Hey Billy, I was thinking about you on Sat. The 23rd of February, since it was time once again for the Polar Bear Plunge. Sure do miss you being there. At least you were with me in Spirit. Everyone else except for a select few are still too chicken to go in the water. At least we know who the real men are Huh? And you know Yates is up to starting trouble again. I bet you he asked someone how to spell inseperable, since I know he can't spell! (even though it still don't look right) As I mentioned before, we know who the real men are and real men are never alone, are they? Mids will never be the same. Thanks for watching over us! Oh yea, I told 245 to never by egg salad sandwiches that were pre-made unless you like them crunchy. At least you could appreciate that. Your pal John E.

Hey Nich it's me just want to let you know we are all still thinking about you and you are so missed. Do me a favor, try to watch over Johnny because he left me to go back to mids and he is all lonely. He has nobody to take a meal break with and I know how you two were inseperable when it came to meal breaks even if it made Johnny...and me mad sometimes.Jk Talk to ya soon. Always thinking of you man.

Maybe in another life
I could find you there
Pulled away before your time
I can't deal it's so unfair
And it feels like
Heaven's so far away
Yeah it feels like
The world has grown cold
Now that you've gone away
Leaving flowers on your grave
Show that I still care.
Miss you so much Billy!

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Preslar, especially to his wife. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Nichie, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Nichie's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Nichie's life was about so much more than the way he died. Nichie will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Officer Preslar, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

Billy,
In a few days it will be Christmas and it is so hard to believe you have been gone 7 months. You are thought of every day and still I miss that smiling face of yours. They say that people come into our lives for a reason and I know that you have touched many peoples lives and I am blessed to have been one of them. I wish it could have been for longer but I will never regret the time that I had to know you. We both knew what that reason was and I am glad for that, it has made a big difference in my life. Your family are always in my prayers especially your girls I know they meant the world to you. Until we meet again you will always be in my thoughts.

Hey Nich,

Just wanted to say I was thinking of you.
I was thinking about the Valor Awards for some reason tonight & it was so great to be in AC to see you honored last month. I heard that you have a beautiful plaque in headquarters now. Your passing has allowed me ( & I am sure quite a few others) to remember to appreciate my husband everyday & not to just take his presence for granted. That is a gift I was given from you. I miss your smirking face.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Hey there Billy.....I cant believe its going to be 6 months. Wow its still so hard here without you...Everything seems to lead back to you somehow. There is always a sign of you no matter where I am or what I am doing. I know you are still here in spirit and that sure helps. You are so missed Billy, each and everyday and you will never be forgotten.

Hey Nich just wanted to let you know John is at it again. We were reminiscing the other day and he brought up marbles. It wasn't me (actually it was), Remember those days of calling you marbles and on some occasions you would yell at us HEHEH. I miss you man we had so many laughs together. Talk to ya soon.

Hey Billy, Just wanted to remind you, even though you are watching over us and know everything already, that I sat by your locker the other day and just remembered all the laughs we had together. There are still a bunch of us out there, that no matter how busy we are, take the time to talk to each other and share all our stories and how you touched each and every one of us. The one thing we all agree on is that you always seemed to make all of us laugh in your own special way. I know you have everyone up there smiling too. Miss you Bro.

"Nichie"
We little knew that morning, that God
was going to call your name. In life
we loved you dearly, in death we do
the same. It broke our hearts to lose
you, you did not go alone For part of
us went with you, the day God called
you home. You left us peaceful
memories, your love is still our guide;
And though we can not see you, you
are always at our side. Our family
chain is broken and nothing seems
the same, But as God calls us one by
one, the chain will link again.....
