Reflections for Police Officer William "Nichie" Preslar
God bless my family when I am away,
Leave the lights on I'll return from harms way,
Grant me courage and strength to protect others each day,
So they live in peace without worry, fear or dismay,
Bless those who have fallen given their life for another
May their spirit live on from then and forever,
Return me home to my family at the end of each night,
May I pass through the door before the morning's first light,
Shall I give my life for another before the dawn breaks today,
God bless my family when I am away.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AS YOU TRY TO UNDERSTAND WHY GOD NEEDED ANOTHER "ANGEL IN BLUE"

I was in Washington DC honoring those who have fallen when I heard the news. To all of William's family and friends, the entire law enforcement community lost the finest officer out there. My prayers will be with William and his family.
POLICEMAN'S PRAYER
St. Michael, Heaven's glorious Commissioner of Police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all undesirables, look with a kindly and professional eye on your earthly force. Give us cool heads, stout hearts, hard punches, an uncanny flair for investigation, and wise judgement. Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers, and impervious to temptations. You know, St. Michael, from your own experiences with the devil, that the policeman's lot on Earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration. And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your Heavenly Force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God, as we have been to guard the city of men. Amen.

You arise from your bed and don your clothes of blue,
Walking out that door, never faltering, not knowing what faces you.
Whether it be the smile of someone you helped yesterday,
Or the hate and disrespect that unjustly comes your way.
It makes no difference to you for you handle each in kind
Keeping safe the streets where we live, your own safety not first in mind.
