Nichie,
I still listen for the outside door to slam shut when I take my easy between 8 and 8:30 p.m. I keep waiting for you to walk into the briefing room before you go in to change, and sitting down to watch t.v. with me. Remember, like I always said, "you can change the channel if you want"

I came by today to see you
I had to let you know
If I knew the last time that I held you was the last time
I'd have held you and never let go
It's kept me awake nights, wondering
Lie in the dark, just asking why
I've always been told
You won't be called home
Until it's your time
I guess heaven was needing a hero
Somebody just like you
Brave enough to stand up
For what you believe
And follow it through
When I try to make it make sense in my mind
The only conclusion I come to
Is heaven was needing a hero
Like you
I remember the last time I saw you
You held your head up proud
I laughed inside
When I saw how you were standing out in the crowd
You're such a part of who I am
Now that part will just be void
No matter how much I need you now
Heaven needed you more
Cause heaven was needing a hero
Somebody just like you
Brave enough to stand up
For what you believe
And follow it through
When I try to make it make sense in my mind
The only conclusion I come to
Is heaven was needing a hero
Like you
Heaven was needing a hero
and that's you

Nichie, I don't know where to begin. The girls and I miss you so much. Gracie just had her family day picnic at school and even though I know you were there with us it was just so hard. Seeing the other fathers with their kids. I could see you everywhere with the girls. You were and will always be their HERO. We have so many events coming up that without your presense will be so hard to get through. Julia and Gracie both have graduation ceremonies. Vanessa's Wedding. And poor Julia, her 6th birthday. You and I had planned such a great party for her. Somehow we will get through this without you, but these supposibly happy occassions will have a large cloud of sadness hanging over them because you are not there. God Nichie...How am I supposed to raise these girls without you? We miss you every minute...

Nich..I am usually not lost for words however I am finding it difficult to express how much you meant to me. I want to thank you for being my friend. I will never forget how unselfish and supportive you were, even if it meant giving someone else an advantage. I will never forget all the goods times we shared throughout our years in the fire department as well as the police department. I will truly miss our "I'm a fat bastard" conversations at Shop-Rite which usually concluded with you offering to go to McDonald's for us. I want you to know that I always admired you for the love and care you had for Lisa and the girls. I have tried to model that with my own family. You are greatly missed! You were not only my friend you were my "brother"!

Hey Nich,
Yeah, your tree is gone. But #4, we went there on Memorial Day. We took both engines. "Not one,but two". How many #1's it take to be a #4? I miss joking with you about that. We placed flowres there just in time. I still cant understand why you had to hit a tree they were gonna cut down two and half weeks later. Why you? We have firefighter night at the blue claws tonight. The big water fight. We are gonna wear our shirts. The ones with you on it.
We at #4 miss you. And wish you could be here.
As we pulled away from your place on monday, we turned the corner....and a deer was standing there in the road. What does that mean brother? I know youre ok and that your light will shine down on us and you walk with us in the fire man. Until we see you again, godspeed Nich.

See that Billy, Only you could makes Yates reach into his pockets. I know a lot of us still feel strange about you not being here anymore. We keep looking for you in the locker room, expecting you to come walking around the corner. One thing I do know is that you will always be with us and I ask that you just look over us and keep us safe.!! I wish I could have done the same for you!!!!

Hey Nich,
Just thought you'd like to know that the Blueclaws are having their first "P.B.A." night and they are dedicating the night to you and the rest of Local 71. Dan T and I went to order T-shirts and other things to sell at the game today. All of the profit we make will be going back to Julia and Gracie. You should know that they will be taken care of and they will want for nothing .Plus, the township passed an ordinance giving Lisa and the girls benefits for life so you don't have to worry. We miss you Nich. Hope you are well.

Nich I just wanted to let you know Rudy and myself worked a roadjob on the 31st and they cut that effing tree down. I worked in the same location today while they were paving and I snuck in "70" cents before they steamrolled the blacktop. Typical stupid things I would do for ya brother.
"Resheeve" I love ya

Niche, I don't know where to start. I can't believe your gone. I still remember our first day at the Academy man. We were both nervous wrecks. You guided me through the Academy, you were the glue that kept us together. I miss you so much. I can't stop thinking about the good times we had on mids. I do know one thing I am going to take care of the MP5 light that I took from ya, hehehe At least I know on every job we go on you will be right there in front of me, guiding me through. God Bless you Niche. You will be DEEPLY missed. My heart goes out to you and your entire family I love ya, Officer Yates. P.S we are still going to have the East 4th St. Reunion on June 22nd I know you will be there.

Nich,
I can't believe you're gone. It seems so unfair and I can't understand why it had to be your time. You were always my comic relief when I was having a bad day. You were one of my FTO's and I'll never forget all that you taught me, including how not to get my patrol car stuck at the airport. You've made the ultimate sacrifice and all of your Lakewood Brothers and Sisters miss you dearly. Please watch over us from up above and keep us safe. We will never forget you Nich.

One Man Can Make A Difference
His name is William Preslar
most knew him as just Niche
he left this earth too early
but set goals that he could reach
He started out a little boy
with one thing on his mind
to work real hard, protect and serve
and wear a badge that he could shine
He got that tin, he was proud
his face had that big smile
Bill had the job he yearned for
that he's wanted for a while
Along the way he made some friends
he treated like family some would say
so close indeed his memory
in their hearts will forever stay
He loved his job and he did it well
a guy that you could count on
it's so surreal to look around
and try to cope that he is gone
He's brought us all together
some with smiles but shedding tears
a bond most didn't notice
but it's been here all these years
But don't be sad when you look
at Bills picture upon that shelf
just be proud that GOD was jealous
and wanted him for himself.
We love and miss you Billy!!!!!!!!
