Reflections for Border Patrol Agent Richard Goldstein

GOD'S SPEED FELLOW K-9 HANDLER. YOUR FAMILY IS IN OUR THOUGHT'S AND PRAYER'S.

DEP. H. TIMMS K-9 HANDLER
DOUGLAS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

May 20, 2007

To the wife, children, granddaughter, parents, brother, extended family and friends as well as the fellow Border Patrol Agents who worked with Agent Richard Goldstein, I offer my most sincere condolences.

May Border Patrol Agent Richard Goldstein bask in God's perpetual light and rest in His eternal peace for having made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting and serving not only our country...but for his respect for life even in its canine form.

I pray that God will give his family...especially his parents...the graces and strength needed to be able to cope with their grief at this most difficult time.

Although the sudden loss of one so young is devastating to all those who loved him…for parents to have to outlive their child who was in the prime of his life…that is the most painfully heartbreaking cross that a parent is asked by God to endure…and only with His help will you be able to carry on one day at a time. I know, because I too suffer the loss of a wonderful son. I offer Agent Goldstein’s mother and father my deepest sympathy…be proud that you raised an honorable, caring and decent human being.

You all will be remembered by the many survivor families who come to this site to pay their respect and to honor and offer prayers in behalf of your loved one and your family.

God watch over all of you as you mourn this tragic loss… and treasure the precious new baby that has been sent to your family and know that she will be watched from above by a very loving grandfather.

My department had a man murdered in the line of duty in February. I am a communications operator and my cousin is a border patrol agent based in Tucson. My heart and prayers go out to the family. I know these Border guys work hard and don't usually have a back up unit. They are spread really thin. Maybe now the Border Patrol will emphasize a back up unit of the two legged variety. The law enforcement family has lost too many guys this year.
