About 5 years ago, I began taking ski trip vacations at Mittersill Resort near Franconia. I thought of it as a nice, quiet "Mayberry" type place, and I'm sure the reason I always felt comfortable there was because of the efforts of people like Cpl. McKay. May the Almighty bring comfort to his family and friends. Gone too soon, but NEVER forgotten.

For the family of Cpl McKay:

Sometimes it is difficult to find them, but there are people who really care about the policeman. This civilian not only made sure he witnessed this tragic incident, but chose to make sure without regard for his own life, that this subj would never have another chance to harm any other human being ever again. This Im sure is the outcome that Cpl McKay would want if he could not do it himself.
Police officers do not go out wishing they will be able to shoot someone, but go out wishing they will be able to take a bad one off the street. This was a classic example of 2 good people making sure that 1 bad one would have no further chances to be bad to anyone else.

You made the ultimate sacrifice, for that we are all greatful. My deepest sympathy to your fellow co-workers, family and friends, there will be a void. However, YOU will live on ALWAYS in their hearts and in the memories that they have and share of you. Also, a Thank You to the citizen who risked his own safety to render aid to Cpl Mckay and was not afraid to get involved. As a retired Marine he obviously still lives by the Marine's beliefs. He didn't leave his brother in time of need.

When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
as I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.

Please give me understanding with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention until their story's told.
Let me never make a judgment in a rash or callous way,
but let me hold my patience let each man have his say.

Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord, with your everlasting love
protect my children and my wife.
