I went to high school with Bruce McKay on Long Island, New York. We emailed each other regulary. Bruce was a true man of honor who took great pride in his work as a police officer. I had the priviledge to call him my friend. It saddens me and all that knew him to learn how he left this life. He will be remembered as a decent family man who did more good for others in a week then most people do in a lifetime. God bless you Bruce.

From all the men and women of the law enforcement community in Tennessee, our hearts and prayers go out to Cpl. McKay, his family, and his department.

And a special thanks to the civilian that stepped up and put himself in harms way to protect a man that has devoted his life to selfless service of his community. Its good to know that there are still good people out there that are willing to help even when it is the the protectors that need the help. God bless him and his family too.

Like in the Marines, we don't do what we do for the prestige. We do it because it is a job that needs to be done, and if not us, then who? My family will keep your family in our prayers. To the Marine and his son, from a Deputy and a Marine, "Thank-you, you both are heros." There is a reason and a purpose for you being there at that precise moment, rest in that and know that what you did was a necessary RESPONSE to the offenders actions, again...Thank-you both.
