It saddens me to see the same guy that assualted Cpl. McKay was out of confinement to harm him again. We need to keep the bad guys in jail. Cpl. McKay rest easy my brother we have the watch now. To the Marine that got the bad guy, job well done. This proves that the United States Of America has the best soldiers in the world, and they are compassionate.

Please forward my deepest sympathy and condolences to Corporal McKay's daughter and family. Oh my, I can only imagine how you must feel right now and my heart is very sad for you. I will restrain myself from expressing the anger I feel for the lack of regard or emotion for human life. Absolutely senseless. Unfortunately, I left LE years ago to be a full-time mom and this is one reason why I made the difficult choice to change my life's direction. LE officers make the ultimate sacrifice everyday and there is never a low risk call or stop. The civilian who risked his own life and did not think twice about the safety of his son or himself out of concern for Corporal McKay is amazing and deserves more than just a hero's recognition. Absolutely amazing to display such courage! Despite the outcome, your father was fortunate to have such a courageous human-being by his side that day. Please send along my appreciation of his courage to him and his family as well.
May your wonderful memories carry and lift you through such a sad and tragic time.
Sincerely,
Christina D.

I had the opportunity to personally meet Cpl. McKay several years ago during a trip to New Hampshire. He was a truly inspirational figure and performed his job with honor and integrity. He is a true hero in every sense of the word and will undoubtedly be missed by all.
He sacrificed his life doing the job he loved, and for that we are forever grateful. Rest in peace Cpl. McKay, you will not be forgotten.

You & your family are in my thoughts & prayers. God bless. And thank God there are still that select few that will "do the right thing" rather than remain apathetic. Kudos to that former Marine & his son for rushing to the officer's aid w/o worrying about their own safety.

May God bless and watchover your family and freinds during this tragic time. May you rest easy with eternal peace in the arms of our Savior. You are in our thoughts and prayers, we'll take it from here my friend!
To the Marine who placed himself and his child in harms way in an attempt to save Cpl. McKay, there are no words from the rest of the Law Enforcement Community that can be said but "Thank You". You are a "True Hero" and you rid the world of an evil man. I pray that you are blessed throughout the rest of you life and those blessing be past on through your children and their children for generations to come..

Rest in peace, Cpl. McKay. You've served your community well. You were in the thoughts of many at the National Candlelight Vigil in Washington, DC last night.
To his family and colleagues, our sympathies.
And lastly, we commend Mr. Floyd, the citizen who came to Cpl. McKay's aid. While it proved too late to save him, it took a whole lot of courage to intervene. Courage that very few members of the general public -- understandably so -- would have. I've known scant few Marines that didn't continue to make the USMC proud, long after their service, but he did so with extra distinction.
