Reflections for Corporal N. Bruce McKay, III

Daniel Webster said, "Men hang out their signs indicative of their respective trades... ...but in the mountains of New Hampshire, God Almighty has hung out a sign to show that there He makes men."

God didn't just make a good man in Corporal McKay- He made a great man.

The north country mourns,
a great man this day,
for Franconia’s,
Cpl. Bruce McKay.
He went off to work,
as always before,
but patrol our streets
he will do no more.
Many of us came,
and shared all our grief,
and still many more,
are in disbelief.
The service was a,
fitting tribute to,
a great father not,
just a man in blue.
His daughter Courtney
shared a touching tail,
about her dad and
his painted pink nails.
Although we’re in pain,
let us never forget,
that others despair,
full of loss and regret.
See we lost a brother
which makes us hurt bad,
but what about Courtney,
her loss is her dad.
We owe her a debt,
we can not repay,
but she’s in our prayers
each and every day.

Having lived in Franconia for quite a few years before moving south, I recall the professionalism exhibited by F.P.D.'s officers, specifically, Cpl. McKay. I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of his death. I consider Franconia to be God's Country and visit several times a year. From this point forth, at every visit, I will stop and remember the sacrifice and service by our brother, and pray for his family. "...and the peacemakers shall become the children of God". Rest in peace my brother. Your brothers in blue will take care of your family from here on.

Bruce McKay was a friend and colleague and an outstanding police officer. Liko Kenney behaved like a mad dog when he shot Bruce and ran him over. The Marine who stopped to help was civic-minded enough to put him down. God bless Corporal McKay and that Marine. I doubt that many people will miss Liko Kenney.

I knew Bruce McKay as a young man and enjoyed growing up with him. Reading about this tragedy has brought so many memories back of his warm smile, sense of humor and kindness. To his daughter I send assurance that your dad was someone who loved you tremendously. He became a man we all were proud to know.

I met you once Cpl McKay a few days after the VSP lost one of our fellow troopers in the line of duty. You told me you knew Tpr. Michael Johnson and respected him as a great police officer and person. Now, almost four years later it is you who we remember as a great police officer and person. My families prays are with you, your family and fellow officers. Rest in peace and say hi to Mike for me.

I saw the terrible story. It was upsetting to see that few people felt sorry for the low life who killed you. I know you are in heaven now and forgive him for what he did to you- but down here on earth it is hard to do. You are in my thoughts and prayers along with your family. God Bless.

I have never left one of these before but when I read the article about this it pissed me off. Bode Miller and Liko Kenney are cowards. This man died doing his job. I could sit here and type all day about how sorry those two individuals are but we all can see what kind of people they are. Liko you got what you deserved. Bode you will get yours on the other side. Officer McKay Thank you! To his family I am sorry. He is in a place now where he doesnt have to deal with scum like these two.
