Reflections for Corporal N. Bruce McKay, III

Corporal McKay, it has been 17 years since you were taken from us. New Hampshire law enforcement has continued to thrive, learn and become safer due to the traditions and sacrifices you, your family, and many others have made for us. Thank you for your 12 years of law enforcement service.

Wishing you a happy birthday. Can't imagine you would have been 65!
I'm sure Courtney is baking you a carrot cake. You would be so proud of her.
Take good care of my Bruce. I find comfort in thinking you guys are together.

Corporal McKay, it has been 16 years since you were taken from us, I was in the mass of officers surrounded by the beautiful Franconia Notch when we laid you to rest and still remember it clearly. I had a tough time holding my emotions while in formation and listening to your young daughter trying to talk about you. New England law enforcement has continued to thrive, learn and become safer due to the traditions and sacrifices that you and too many others have made for us. Thank you for your service.

Bruce, I will never forget you. It has been almost 13 years since that tragic day. I remember clear as day, after we talked , we both waved goodbye and said see you later my friend. Later that same day after I saw you, you were gone. I cherished our friendship and the brother and sisterhood we all shared working law-enforcement in the north country of New Hampshire. I am still on the job, and loving every minute of it. It is the memory of you and heroes like you that keep me and my fellow brother and sister law enforcement officers out here every day fighting evil and the savages that take the life of a law enforcement officer like you. "The price of peace and freedom is eternal vigilance" and we will remain as such, just as you did that fateful day. Rest easy my friend, as we will meet again some day and share another smile and a friendly wave.

Wow. I was brought here after watching the two incidents involving Officer McKay and “Niko?”. Niko was obviously a troubled young man and it’s sad that he took out his vengeance and rage against this well respected man. It’s a very sad story and my heart goes out to the McKay family. It saddens me deeply to hear of this and exacerbates my respect for all law enforcement and proves that their job is one that is full of danger. But they do it to protect the population. Corporal McKay truly is a hero and an inspiration to not only me but I’m sure many more people around the globe.

Sir, I didn't know you personally but I wish to express my gratitude and respect to you having served the community and keep the community safe.
You will never be forgotten.
My heartfelt condolences go out to the officers family who suffered unimaginably because of a young, completely out of his mind punk who got what he deserved!

I have seen the video of this incident several times. The earth was rid of a dangerous individual when the civilian took his life. He will be forgotten over the passage of time. Corporal Bruce McKay will be forever remembered.

I am learning of your death today, 10 years later. It is heartbreaking, especially as the daughter of a police officer (RIP). What happened to you was always my greatest fear of what may have happened to Dad during his years of service. He survived the streets where many, including you & a dear friend of his, did not. My heart goes out to your family.
