Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Robert Buckman

Tim,
I didn't know you called. Joe told me you did, but it was after the fact. When the storm passed friday, I sat in the kitchen, waiting. I heard a vehical come flying in the front yard. I knew it was you, but it wasn't. It was Neri,he was the first one here to check on us. We were all ok. The tornado shook and rocked the house. We were safe under the basement steps. The next vehical came and then the next. I sat frozen in the kitchen chair, as I waited for a report of what was left and alive outside. With each arrival, I asked if it was you. Each time it wasn't. Tyler finally got here. He had to come through the hills. The tornado took all the outbuildings, most of the trees. The garage and house are still standing. My dogs and horses survived. I'm not sure how. Still I waited for you to show up. You've always been here to see we were ok. I finally decided you must be down and Ed Parks place. We heard they were trapped in the basement. I never dreamed I wouldn't see you again. I'm so glad you were my brother. I will miss you until we meet in Heaven. Tyler is torn in two. He doens't know what he will do without his hunting pardner. I pray we can be strong and make it through your funeral on sat. Please know we are proud of you. Love you always.

We are SO lucky to have some of the best law enforcement officers in Kansas. Ofc Tim Buckman is proof positive of that. Kiowa County was very lucky to have him, and the whole state will be less without him.

Thanks Ofc Buckman...

You chose to ride into visible danger with the intention to warn and protect others from this horrific event. Your courage and valor was truly uncommon, and you laid down your life so others might live. Your devotion to your fellow man and to a cause greater than your own personal interests is truly inspiring. I pray for your family and the friends you've left behind. They have lost a great man. I pray that God's love and presence will sustain them during this dark period. May your loved ones take comfort in knowing that you have left behind a great legacy for others to follow of commitment to duty and demonstrated courage .

Well done sir.
