Reflections for Police Officer Lisa Renee Ligda-Beaulieu
Lisa, although i did not know you i know many of your co-workers and they have nothing but wonderful things to say about you.
I was at your funeral on my motor but was unable to stay due to having to be back in louisiana before you where sent home, just so you know my heart was there and i was told that it was a beautiful funeral.
You have made everyone proud by the job you performed so well. Lisa R.I.P Sister

I am shocked and saddened to hear of your tragic and senseless passing. My prayer is that you will rest in peace in the arms of the Lord and that He will bless your loved ones left behind. May justice be served to the selfish one who carelessly took your life.

Lisa,
Your death has been a total shock. My emotions are all over the place. I keep praying this total sadness will lift. This morning I woke to Nickleback's song Photograph and laughed because it made me look at a picture we took on duty, that will never be viewed by staff. (haha) For 13 years, you shed a light on my life that can never be replaced. I am numb and so very sad. I keep remembering when I first met you and you would come to my apartment and talk with me ENDLESSLY about becoming an officer. I laughed when you said "you look like a girl". It was important to you that you keep a "feminine" look. I was so proud when you became an officer. I know how very hard you worked to be one. You lived with me during the academy and I remember you working at the prison in Dayton at night and coming in to go to the academy in the mornings. You were beyond exhausted, yet you plugged away and gave it everything. It did not come easy to you and you had so many battles to fight to get there. So many memories are starting to flood back... but the one I will cherish the most is your relentless drive when you wanted something. You were a little sister to me. You made me crazy sometimes because we had different ways of handling business, but you were an individual. There were so many times you would send me messages on duty or just make me laugh in shift meeting. I regret the times I got so busy with my own world that I missed dinner with you or took a raincheck. Our last conversation was about a bad week you had been having. You vented and then focused on your dream. You were looking forward to finding your dream home and decorating it. I know for a fact you were a Christian and Saved. So honey, you have a mansion in heaven and I can't wait to come see how you decorated it. The pain will end with time, but the memories will always be there.
Your sister in Christ,
Carol

Lisa,
I did not know it was you until I arrived on scene that horrible night. I will never forget that night nor the wondeful way you touched all of our lifes. You always brightened up the day. To hear your cheerful voice on the radio was always a pick me up. I honestly cannot ever remember seeing you not smiling. Even when you were mad you had at least a half smile on. Thank you for just being you. You will be greatly missed.

First let me give my most heartfelt condolences to the
family of Officer Lisa Beaulieu. She has left a void in
everyones life she has touched. And also my condolences to the Beaumont Police Department her work family. Who have
again tragically lost one of their dedicated officers.
I remember meeting Lisa personally when she came by my parents house to give my parents a plaque. My Brother Conrad had also tragically lost his life. Also she went to Austin during the Peace Officers Memorial. The support
given to us was tremendous. And we are eternally grateful
to the Beaumont Police Department their staff and especially the Officers. Lisa was no doubt a wonderful special lady. Her extended family that she worked with her fellow sisters and brothers continue to do their courageous jobs day in and day out. I will continue to support the Beaumont Police Department and their Officers. Officer Lisa Beaulieu will always be missed. She was loved by many who continue to grieve for her family and for the wonderful person
she will always be. Thank you Officer Lisa Beaulieu for
your hard work and dedication and for the special person you
are.

My friend Lisa was a beautiful person. She had a caring heart, a free spirit, and a great personality. I first met Lisa when I became a dispatcher for Beaumont PD. We worked together as dispatchers for about a year, until I became a patrolman. She remained a dispatcher, and was an angel of the airwaves as she sent us to calls. She cared for us as much as she could via the radio. Giving us needed information, and sharing our fears when all she could do was listen. A few years later, with much determination she became an officer too. Working the same streets and facing the unknown with the strongest of the strong and the bravest of the brave.
My friend Lisa was taken from me and so many others on Friday, April 27, 2007 while on duty. She was struck by a car while blocking traffic on an accident. She was struck by a selfish man of 24 years. He was selfish because he was drunk and decided to drive. He was selfish because he did not want to be inconvenienced by having to find a sober person to drive him. He rolled the dice and decided to drive. We lost a great cop and a great friend to the roll of those dice. There are scars that will never heal, and an emptiness that we all feel. Friends of Lisa held her hand as she lay broken and dying, never leaving her side. Worrying about her, praying for her, while the selfish man was complaining about the damage to his car. Before responding units arrived he was told that he hit an officer, but he never went to check on her. Instead he questioned why she was even there.
Her casket was closed so that most of us could remember her the way we knew her, a beautiful young woman, always smiling. But for those who were with her during her last moments the casket might as well have been open. Mentally that casket was as open as the wounds in their hearts and minds from the sights of seeing their friend and co-worker broken and bleeding.
I was spared the horror of seeing her that night, which is bittersweet. I’m thankful that I can remember her the way I knew her, but I wish that I could have been there to help bare the burden and sorrow with my fellow officers and friends. I have many great memories of Lisa, but my last memory is that of carrying her casket through the Wall of Honor, and to her final resting place. I was honored when I found out that while in life she listed me as one of several people that she wanted to be a pallbearer in case the unthinkable happened.
The Wall of Honor was formed by hundreds of officers and first responders who came to pay tribute to Lisa and honor her sacrifice. While I helped carry her I was naturally saddened, but I realized that the honor was mine.
The true honor was that of being Lisa's friend.
Lisa, I miss you and will never forget you. Rest in peace.

Lisa,
We went through training together and became friends. I remember the night we spent together with Tina. We got off work, went to Walmart and hung out a little while waiting for Tina to get off duty. Then, we all went back to your apt and watched Grease and Grease 2. We had the best time that night. I also remember that off all my friends at BPD, you and Carolyn were the only 2 that came to see me in the hospital when I gave birth to Tyler. You know he kept that talking Kermit you bought him when he was born til about 2 years ago...he's 6 now. When you got hired on in patrol we lost contact and moved on. No matter how things turned out, I'm glad we became friends. I'm sorry people and circumstances came between us. I truely hope I can learn more about myself and others from you being taken away from us like this. Everytime I sing I'm Not Lisa with my band, I'll think of how you laughed everytime I brought up singing it...and I'll make sure when we sing Margaritaville, I find a way to honor you.
I Miss You!!!

Lisa,
Danny and I went about the business of working the accident knowing that you were behind us, protecting us from oncoming traffic and keeping us safe. When John called officer down, I rushed to your location with the knowledge that one of our officers had been hit. When I arrived on scene within seconds and realized it was you I fully understood the horror of the situation. I hope you heard me as I talked to you and held your hand until EMS arrived. When EMS did arrive I tearfully prayed for you and all of our officers as I recalled past memories. I then tried to go about performing the supervisory duties that needed to be accomplished.
Lisa, I am so very proud of you! You died performing the job you loved. You sacrificed your life protecting your fellow officers. You were loved by so many. You brightened our days and made us laugh. You will never be forgotten.
You are missed and loved,
Rob

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Officer Beaulieu, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.
Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow
Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow
When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest
