Reflections for Police Officer III Luke Timothy Hoffman

God be with Luke's family, girlfriend, friends and loved ones from the police and fire families. God also be with Steve. This may be the most difficult time of our lives. We pray and grieve for each other. We pray and grieve for Luke & also for Steve. This was a tragic accident.

Gods plan is not always to be understood. Life and death don't always make sense. It is our brotherhood/sisterhood that provides the support, love, honor and dedication to each other that must sustain our heavy hearts.

Poet Emily Dickenson wrote that "Parting is all we know of Heaven --and all we need of hell." She was half right. I know of Heaven that Officer Hoffman awaits his family there. Until that day comes, may God grant comfort to all who mourn his passing.

Firefighters prayer

When I am called to duty, God
Whenever flames may rage,
Give me the strength to save some life
Whatever be its age,
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate
Enable me to be alert and
Hear the weakest shout
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out
I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me,
To guard my every neighbor and
Protect his property
And if according to my fate
I am to lose my life,
Please bless with your
protecting hand
My children and my wife.

Police officers prayer

Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears...

Courage to take me
Where others will not go...

I ask for strength

Strength of body to protect others
And strength of spirit to lead others...

I ask for dedication

Dedication to my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
To keep it safe...

Give me Lord, concern
For others who trust me
And compassion for those who need me...

And please Lord

Through it all
Be at my side... Luke T. Hoffman may the lord be with you always.

Such a tragic loss. Accidents do happen as we all know, this brave and courageous officer died doing what he was put here to do, to serve and protect. May he rest in peace and may the Officer that was involved heal as I know this will be heavy on his heart for a long time. Take care of each other and all will survive this too.

"The Final Inspection"

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

GOD BLESS OFFICER LUKE HOFFMAN & HIS FAMILY, TIME WILL MAKE THINGS BETTER AND JUST REMEMBER HE'S IN A BETTER PLACE NOW AND HE'LL WATCH OVER YOU,ALWAYS!!

It takes a special kind of person to put the safety of the community above his own. It takes the highest level of integrity to pursue justice for others before personal comfort. You gave more than can ever be repaid.

You will never be forgotten, nor will your sacrifice be forsaken.

Rest In Peace.
