Reflections for Air Interdiction Agent Clinton B. Thrasher

To the family of Clint, I know no words can ease your pain, but having been around you only for a moment I was inspired by your faith in God, love for the agency and for one another. With these things I know that you will persevere in this time of tremendous tribulation. Know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. With the most sincere respect and admiration for your strength,

I was deeply saddened by the death of my friend Clint. I got to know Clint when we both worked as pilots at the Gregg Co. airport in Longview. He was an outstanding individual, intelligent, humble, thoughtful and respectful. The world is a sadder place without him. I wil pray for his wife, little girls and family.

To a loving man, friend and fellow service member,
You have left a piece of your life in the hearts of all who knew you and we thank you so much for your part in serving this country! I am especially sad to have lost the most humble and handsome man I have ever known. Rachelle, you and the girls will always be in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry! Love you!

Clint was my classmate from the ICE/Customs Academy in Brunswick, Georgia. For the short period of time I did know Clint I can tell you that everything mentioned about him below is the truth. He was humble but very confident in his abilities and always willing to help out his classmates. He was always upbeat and making others laugh with his silliness. And he loved to tell stories about his Border Patrol days with classmates, like myself, who were prior Border Patrol Agents.

This loss has not only affected his ICE classmates, but also the Secret Service Agents who had the pleasure of having Clint as a classmate.

Since April 25, 2007, not a day goes by that I don't think about Clint and his family. He was an outstanding pilot as well as a great person and family man. I am proud to say that I had the pleasure of knowing Clint and being a part of his life...even if it was for just five months.

You'll be greatly missed Clint and you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers...always.

My thoughts and prayers are with Agent Thrasher's family and co-workers. I recently lost my husband in the line of duty. Know that time will heal the wound, but the scar will last forever so he is never forgotten.

On Memory
When you remember me, it means that you
have carried something of who I am with you,
that I have left some mark on who I am on who you are.
It means that you can summon me back to your mind
even though countless years and miles may stand between us.
It means that if we meet again, you will know me,
and hear my voice and speak to me in your heart.
For as long as you remember me, I am never entirely lost.
~Frederick Buechner

Thank you for the committment that you made to keep all of us safe and for serving your community. Rest in Peace.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Agent Thrasher and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Agent Thrasher has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends of Agent Thrasher, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Agent Thrasher is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Clint has been my best friend since I can remember. This has been a hard time for everyone that knew Clint, but I do take comfort in knowing that Clint gave his life doing what he loved! There are 3 things Clint loved in his life, his family/friends, guns and flying! I will always miss Clint, he was a great friend.

I was one of Clint's PE teachers and taught on the same campus as his mom. Clint was always ready to participate and he gave 100% each day. I enjoyed listening to stories Jane would tell us about Clint as he continued in school. Clint was one of the most handsome grooms on his wedding day that I had ever seen. Words are unable to express the hurt I am feeling for his family.

Clint's brother said it best at the visitation Saturday night--"there will never be another one like him." Growing up, Clint was one of those special people who just seemed to radiate goodness to all those around him. Everyone loved him; he had no enemies (even in those horrid days of middle school!) Mr. & Mrs. Thrasher and Rachelle--your son and husband had the respect of everyone who knew him, and, as you can see in reading this page, those throughout our country who only know people like Clint. For all of us who love your family, we are grieving with you; our thoughts and prayers are constantly with you.

"A Part of America Died"

Somebody killed a policeman today,

and part of America died.

A piece of our country he swore to protect,

will be buried with him at his side.

The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,

with counsel demanding his rights.

While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,

and spend many long, lonely nights.

The beat that he walked was a battle field too,

just as if he'd gone off to war.

Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,

to his name they will add a gold star.

Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,

in your town or mine.

While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,

a cop put his life on the line.

Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,

and he stands at each new rookie's side.

He answered the call,

of himself gave his all,

And A Part of America Died.

Thank you for protecting our first line of defense and keeping us safe. You gave the ultimate sacrifice.
I was once the on the Border. I was part of the "Old Patrol" class 226/2 Laredo Sector U.S. Border Patrol.

I would like to take this opportunity to express the kind of law enforcement pilot that Agent Thrasher was, for those of you that didn’t know him. I worked with Air Interdiction Agent (AIA) Clinton Brady Thrasher, when he was assigned in Puerto Rico and I was a Marine Interdiction Agent. Agent Thrasher was a humble person, hard worker, good coworker and a self motivated and dedicated Pilot. We all knew, when he was flying, it was a matter of time of getting vectors for a target. Agent Thrasher flew many hours at night protecting our borders and his legacy to our country goes beyond the call of duty. I’m deeply sorry for his death. Rest in peace…
