To NYSP and my fallen Brother Trooper Brinkerhoff:

I am so very saddened and angry to hear of the brutal and cowardly assasination of such a fine young Officer as Trooper Brinkerhoff. The law enforcement community in the State of New York, between 9-11 and the constant series of Trooper murders has suffered so much. The NYSP's tragic losses in recent times under these similar circumstances causes my heart to go out to the NYSP ranks, its families, friends and also to the people of the State of New York, who lost a Guardian in uniform. As a fellow officer and former NC Trooper, I feel the loss, for we are all family, regardless of agency, jurisdiction, race, religion or gender. My family lost a brother today and it sickens me. The NYSP is such a professional organization.

I offer my sincerest condolences to Trooper Brinkerhoff's immediate and extended family, his friends and colleagues. While we mourn the loss, we must not lose sight of celebrating the life, for it is the question of how long a candle burns but how bright shines its light. Trooper Brinkerhoff now patrols a beat in Heaven on St. Michael's platoon. Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 13:15. I also offer my deepest prayers for the wounded Trooper's full and speedy recovery as I pray for his familiy in this time of such deep concern. I hope that the monsterous cretin responsible for this heinous series of attrocities is brought to immediate and unrelenting justice by the men and women in uniform. We are God's civil soldiers, and this evil beast must feelGlory of the coming of the Lord and the lightning of his terrible swift sword.

Rest easy brother Brinkerhoff, we have the watch from here. God Bless and be safe out there brothers and sisters.
