Your sacrifice is inspiring and aggrevating at the same time. We come into this line of work knowing that this is a real possibility, yet we strive to prevent it at all costs. You have invoked the need for your fellow brothers to carry on and vow to prevent such things from happening again. You set the bar high my friend. You have my respect and admiration.

David,

I watched from a distance as you and the newest members of the Mobile Response Team completed training to become a member of such an elite group. It takes a special kind of human being to do what the MRT does on a daily basis. Thank you for volunteering for such a duty. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends, and especailly your MRT brothers. Losing two members within a year must make them even more resolute in continuing their quest to keep the citizens of NY and their fellow law enforcers safe.

I thank you and your family for the service, sacrifice and dedication that is shown each day. You are a true hero in every sense of the word. You will never be forgotten.

Godspeed and rest peacefully.

Trooper Brickerhoff
It was with great sadness that I received the phone call this morning from one of your fellow Grey Riders. It has been an especially hard year and several months for law enforcement, especially NY and even more so the NYSP. Just as we have been for the others we will be here for your family including your family of Grey Riders and your friends. GOD BLESS YOU!

Cop on |the Take

|First he takes |the oath.

|Now look at |all he takes.

|He takes it in |stride when |people call |him pig.

|He takes time |to stop and |talk to |children.

|He takes your |verbal abuse |while giving |you a ticket |you really |deserved.

|He takes on |creeps you |would be |afraid to even |look at.

|He takes time |away from his |family to keep |you safe.

|He takes your |injured child |to the |hospital.

|He takes the |graveyard |shift without |complaint |because it's |his turn.

|He takes his |life into his |hands daily.

|He takes you |home when |your car |breaks down.

|He takes time |to explain |why both |your |headlights |have to work.

|He takes the |job no one |else wants--|telling you a |loved one has |died.

|He takes |criminals to |jail.

|He takes in |sights that |would make |you cry.

|Sometimes he |cries too, but |he takes it |anyway |because |someone has |to.

|If he is lucky, |he takes |retirement.

|He takes |memories to |bed each |night that |you couldn't |bear for |even one |day.

|Sometimes, |he takes a |bullet.

|And yes, |occasionally |he may take a |free cup of |coffee.

|Then one day |he pays for all |he has taken, |and God takes |him.

|Please |remember |that the "He" |in all this |represents |all police |officers, both |men and |women who |have served |and are |serving our |cities and |their citizens |we have all |sworn to |protect.

|Blessed are |the peace |keepers!

My wife and I extend our deepest, heartfelt condolences to Trooper Brinkerhoff's entire extended family. As former Orange County, NY Law Enforcement Officers, we echo the great sadness of the entire NY community at this time. As SRT, we certainly know of your responsibilities and great dangers faced on a daily basis. You were truly one of NY's most elite -- NYSP MRT. NY has certainly lost one of it's finest. RIP brother. St. Michael has called one of his Angels home. 1*
