Dear Trooper Brinkerhoff,
I type this message with tears in my eyes. Your courage, dedication and love for your fellow man shall never be forgotten. My prayers are with your wife and young daughter. I will never have the opportunity to meet your little girl but I feel certain that as she grows she will surely know that her Dad is a hero .. a man who someday, she will be with in Heaven. Untill that day may she know that her father will always be looking down upon her and protecting her.

My wife and I would like to send our condolences to Tpr Brinkerhoff, his family, and to the NYSP for this tragic loss. Before a line of duty injury caused her to retire, my wife was stationed in SP Margaretville, and SP Binghamton - we still have many close friends in Margaretville and were concerned for their safety and that of all Law Enforcement involved in locating this suspect. You are all in our prayers.
To Mrs Brinkerhoff - we spoke of your husband and that of Tpr Mattson and Tpr Gombosi during our shift on 4-25. We called each other and sent messages on our MCT's, we spoke to the Troopers that work our area (Troop C - Zone 2) trying to find out any information we could - hoping to hear good news. And even though they were trying to get patrols sent to Margaretville - SP Binghamton made sure we at the Sheriffs Office knew what was going on. That is the "BROTHERHOOD" we belong to, and the one YOU ALL belong to. Your family is in our prayers and please know you are not alone. GOD BLESS
