On Memory
When you remember me, it means that you
have carried something of who I am with you,
that I have left some mark on who I am on who you are.
It means that you can summon me back to your mind
even though countless years and miles may stand between us.
It means that if we meet again, you will know me,
and hear my voice and speak to me in your heart.
For as long as you remember me, I am never entirely lost.
~Frederick Buechner

Thank you for the committment that you made to keep all of us safe and for serving your community. Rest in Peace.

Police Officers have the distinct ability to change our lives call by call - day by day. It is an amazing opportunity to single-handedly make our world a better place just by being there. A law enforcement officer can make more difference in one week of work than most of us have the opportunity to make in a year. Rest well Trooper Brinkerhoff, knowing how many lives are better because of the difference you made everyday of your life. All of those people you helped during your NYSP tenure will never forget your involvement in their world, and they will always feel your protective hand watching over them.

May your family & friends find peace and comfort in knowing that all you have done as a Trooper will live on in all of those you have touched. God Bless.

As I watched the news last night and saw your brother speaking at your funeral, my heart broke. I so wish no family would ever have to go through this type of pain. My thoughts and prayers go to your family, friends, and co-workers at this difficult time.

As a fellow Police Officer I felt compelled to attend David's funeral. Along with a very dear friend , who himself is a State Trooper investigator and his partner, we drove the 2 1/2 hours from Long Island to the town of Bethlehem, New York. With great sorrow I have attended a few Police funerals in my 9 year career. What I saw amazed me. This 29 year old hero brought together thousands of Police officers from around the country to grieve and reflect. I hope he is looking down from above knowing that he was and never will be forgotten. My warmest wishes and prayers go ouy to his devoted family and if there is any kind of help me or my fellow officers can provide, we are there. God bless David, his family and all that serve.

As members of the Delaware State Police gathered at a memorial service yesterday to remember our own fallen heroes, we took time to honor the ultimate sacrifice made by Tpr. Brinkerhoff. To Tpr. Brinkerhoff's family, friends, and coworkers, please know that his service and dedication will never be forgotten.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Trooper Brinkerhoff and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Trooper Brinkerhoff has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends of Trooper Brinkerhoff, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Trooper Brinkerhoff is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

I do not know Officer Brinkerhoff, but my sympathies do go out to his family. I have a son that is in law enforcement and I know the worry - God love them though, they are doing what they love to do, and have definitely helped to make the world a better place. May he rest in peace & his good works never be forgotten.
