David, Thank you for being such a good friend. You always looked out for me and treated me so well. I am deeply saddened with the loss of you. May God Bless you and your Family. To say that you will be missed is such an understatement. You will always be a true class act and gentlemen. I'll see you again someday. Thank you again for being my friend. Your a great man, father, husband, son and brother. Rest in peace.

With heavy hearts we send our thoughts and prayers to the family of Trooper Brinkerhoff. There are a shortage of words that could express our appreciation for his sacrifice.
May he and his family be blessed and may he receive the rest he is so well deserved.
"Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."

To the family and friends of Trooper David Brinkerhoff and his fellow officers with the New York State Police Department:
On behalf of our family, we wish to extend our deepest condolences on the grievous loss you have suffered because of this tragic line of duty death.
I pray that his loved ones will be comforted by the support of your faith and your law enforcement family. There are many other survivors of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty who share this difficult journey with you, and they too can be a source of great comfort. How very sad that he tragically lost his life at such a young age. He will never be forgotten and his honor will always be revered.
Heaven has another hero today, but how I wish it were not your beloved.
My son was fatally shot and died exactly two years and one day before David during a foot pursuit of two robbery suspects. Forgive me for not writing sooner, but this time of year is especially hard and especially now since we are starting trial this month.
I share his mother Karen's anquish in losing a cherished child. No matter how old they are when they are taken from us, they will always be our babies and we remember every glorious moment we were able to be their Moms. A big chunk of your heart is now missing and will forever belong only to him. I am thankful you have the gift of Isabella...when I look in my grandson Cody's eyes I always see my son.
My thoughts are also with the other team officers and I pray for their emotional and physical healing as well.
This refection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished and dedicated service David gave to the citizens of New York, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on April 25, 2007.

Dave,
I don't know what else to say after giving my eulogy on the day of the funeral. No words can express how I feel and how much I miss you each and everyday. You made me a stronger person by knowing you and have opened up my eyes by losing you. Please remain strong as an Angel up above and watch over us here down here. You died doing what you dreamed of doing since 1995. I miss you, SUNY Albany misses you, SAMMY misses you (Hiccup), NYSP misses, WE ALL MISS YOU. Rest in Peace and we will meet again.

My brother, I think about you every day. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. I will miss your ways and the fun you brought to the boys. You were one squared away operator. It is so hard not having you around. We will take cae of Barb and Isabella, don't worry about them, even though it impossible not too. I pray for them every day. I will never forget you. You fought like a warrior that day and I am proud to have served with you. It makes me feel better sometimes that you and Joe are sitting next to each other up there watching over us and protecting us from above, though it hurts so bad that you are not here with boots on the ground ready to make a difference in this world where people like you are needed. I miss you my brother -
