As I drove home from work tonight a song came on The Bear and the words said...and it feels like heaven is so far away, and it seems like the world is so cold now that you've gone away. How those words hit home. May you rest in peace Nick. God Bless.

I didn’t really know Nick, but my husband worked with him, and I went to school with his brother, Tony. It is obvious that he was a great person, friend, and policeman. He will be missed and not forgotten. There are no words to express the deep sorrow felt by those of us who know what it is like to watch our loved one put his or her life at risk every day, praying that our worst fears never come true. My heart breaks for the Polizzotto family, especially for Joey, his little boy. My sympathy goes out to all of his friends. Finally, I pray that God will comfort and protect Nick’s coworkers and fellow law enforcement officers. Rest in Peace, Nick.

To the family and friends of Corporal Nick Polizzotto, please know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of our family and so many others. Any senseless death is a tragedy, but it seems even more tragic when it happens to someone who has dedicated their life to trying to protect the communities they serve. From all accounts, the world would be a much better place with more people like this in it. Please know that serving as a police officer, he has made a difference in the world and that we will be forever grateful to him for that.
We salute all of the local officers who do their best everyday to try to make our world a safer place to live in and raise our children. Our 7-year old daughter wants to ask her teacher to do a Hail Mary for you Corporal Nick. God bless you.

"In The Line of Duty"
What is the meaning of "In The Line Of Duty"
It means that an officer made the Ultimate sacrifice.
It means that someone took an officer's life.
A hero has fallen.
Officers who gave their all
To protect and serve
Have been killed by someone whom they swore
To protect and serve.
It means that their badge will no longer be on their chest
And they will join
"The Best Of The Best"
It means that family and friends are left behind
To deal with the lost of a loved one.
Only having the memories of that loved one
Close to their hearts.
Something no one can ever take away.
It means that family members will stand at the officers grave
And wonder why ...
Why would someone take an officer's life
And leave them there to die?
If we only knew.
Today an officer will place their badge on their chest
To fulfill the dreams of heroes killed
"In The Line Of Duty"
YOU MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE. MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COWORKERS.
REST IN PEACE.

My heart goes out to Officer Polizzotto's family. These men and women put their lives on the line every day. When will we get the message that we need tighter gun controls? My son is also a So. Bend police officer, and good friend to Officer Polizzotto and it is so sad to see him and his fellow offices suffer everytime one of their own are killed or severly wounded. They are a true brotherhood and my heart breaks for them as well as the family. Diana

I am so completely saddened by what happened to Cpl Polizotto. It hits all too close to home when things like this happen, but even more so when it is someone you know. I have both these families in my deepest thoughts and prayers and pray that God will see you through this, especially for the precious boy that is going to be forever effected by the loss of his father. My heart goes out to you.

Hey Buddy!
I don't even know where to begin. You were a great friend, and confidant. We spent many of nights at Friday's talking about family, friends, and the W.S.O.P. I will never forget you. Your family has a son/brother to be proud of. Joe will always know that his father was a hero, not only to the community, but to his brothers and sisters in uniform. I know you were my hero. I never had to look over my shoulder, because I always knew you were there.
It was less than 4 years ago we sat in my kitchen for hours talking about how easily it could have been either one of us when Steve was shot. The shot rang out, and you had me cover the door, so you could get to Steve. You risked your own life without hesitation to protect a brother. You were always thinking of others before yourself. In 5 years, the statue of limitations will be up and I can post some of our best stories.
Paula and I will miss that big smile. Keep us safe!
We love ya bro

Nick you were most definetly an amazing person!!! You were there for anyone who needed you,and never thought twice about helping someone. You always had a smile on your face, even when things weren't going the way they should. You were also, a very brave dedicated man with a heart of gold, and I know your watching over your family and friends, thru each and everyday that passes. May the Lord be with you,and your loved ones.
