To Phil, I will greatly miss your eagerness to aid in our job as dispatchers. You had a magnetic personality that made people like you. You were very new on the streets but I new you would have been a cop for a very long time. I have seen many deputies come and go, this is never the way I want to see one of my "boys" leave us. I will always remember as being one of your dispatchers on your parting day. Phil, take care of all our other boys, whether with you or still with me.

To Phil's, fiancee, mother and family, My heart goes out to you all. I wish you all had many, many more years to enjoy his time on this planet. I am sure Phil will be watching over every one of you, holding you in his embrace. Your family will always be in my thougts and prayers. I will miss your son/brother/boyfriend and am sorry we all couldn't get to know him better.

"Kid"/P-Rod- My heart aches-Its so hard dealing with the fact that one of our CARLOTA 95 family members is up on that wall.... Even though we all went our different ways after graduation I still thought of you everyday as I prayed every morning that everyone in 95 would go home safe that night.

I will always remember your smiling face and the 1 armed push ups you would do in the back of the classroom when you were trying to motivate me to do more pushups!

I know you will always be with us/watching over us-we all now have our guardian angel.

You will forever be missed-

"My Brother"

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what they represent.
He felt privileged to be of service to his department, his community and to his country.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong and became
frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he
never wavered.
He stood by and for his fellow officers.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely
weekends, holidays and midnights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling
and prayed they would understand.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated to the profession and cared about the
people he served.
He wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to
be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.

He was a cop.

Yes, I did know him.
He was a cop, he was my Brother.

Rest easy Brother Rodriguez, we have the watch...

I remember when I first met Phil, he was six years old. He was such a sweet kid! Then he grew up so fast into a strong, handsome, sweet man. At 21 years old you were so mature, established in an admirable career, and incredibly independent. The news of your passing is a shock to me. A tremendous loss to those who loved you, and those who knew you. I am honored to have known you, and am proud of who you became in your short but cherished life. Everytime I ever see a baseball game it will definetly remind me of your love for the sport. May you rest in peace, Phil.

My sincerest condolences to Deputy Rodriguez's wife, sister and fiance. Though his time on earth was short, I am sure he touched many lives and made many differences in the county. From reading reflections of those who knew him, it is obvious he was a very dedicated deputy and a great man. Many looked up to him. In this time of sorrow and grief, know that we are thinking about you and keeping you in our prayers. God speed Deputy Rodriguez!

To the family of Deputy Rodriguez-

The loss you must be feeling is tremendous. To lose a loved one under any circumstances is hard; when they are so young it is even more difficult. The World is a better place because of Philip's time on it. Thank you for sharing your son with those of us in public service. Although his time was short, his legacy can live on.

Growing up with "lil Phil" as we called him sometimes was a time of fun, adventure and surprises. I will deeply miss my cousin and seeing how life progressed for him, but I know he was doing what he loved to do deep down in his heart when he left our family....Serving and protecting his community as a Deputy....Proud, strong, and vigilant in the Line of Duty. We will all miss you Phil.

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Deputy Rodriguez, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest
