Reflections for Police Officer Jason Campbell
Hey man, a few of the old card playing crew got together the other night and played some hold 'em. Your name came up quite a bit as we spoke of the good old days and how you used to show up with a cake or banana pudding when you'd come play. We miss you, brother. You come up all of the time and I think of you every day.

Hey sweetie. This was the second year we went to Washington, D.C. for National Police Week. I don't ever think it will get any easier seeing your name carved in that wall. It is so overwhelming to see all the pictures and flowers and letters/drawings people leave along the wall. I broke down into tears when I passed by a note a little girl had written to her "daddy" with a hand drawn picture she made of herself and her "daddy" talking about how much she loved him and missed him. I cannot stop thinking about you and Ashley and how much you always wanted a little girl. You finally got one and you didn't even get to see her 4th birthday. I just keep thinking of all the important events in her life that will be missed even though I know you are looking down from Heaven it still really sucks that you aren't here for her. I hate it. I think having to deal with the children and their grieving has been the hardest part of this whole process. I so much hate it for them. I wish I could endure all their pain and take it from them. I am constantly assuring them that everything is going to be okay and how much you loved them. God is what has gotten me through this far and I know will continue to get me through the rest of it. I know that every bit of strength and courage I have is from Him. It does not come from me. I am an emotional basketcase. It's amazing what you have to do as a parent. It is very hard to keep it together for them sometimes. Zackary and Ashley are the lights of my life and I am sooooo blessed to have them each day. Not a day goes by that I don't thank God for my children. Even in the worst of circumstances you can always find things to be thankful for. I thank God that even though I lost you for a while (until I see you in Heaven), I still have them.
God says he won't put anymore on us than we can bare, then I must be the strongest person in the world because it is very hard to deal with things without you here to help me. I love and miss you baby each and every day. Also, you would be very proud of Joseph. He has done a 360 and is actually married and settled down now. You two were so different yet so much alike in many ways. Your family is wonderful and has been a blessing. We love you and always will baby, take care until I see you again one day....

Well sweetie, the time has come for me to move out of our house and into another one. I have a lot of memories of us here and it is very hard to leave but I also realize that no matter where I am that you are always with me, watching over and protecting me and will always be in my heart. It's so hard having to make all these decisions that I have to make on a daily basis and I hope I make the right ones. I still miss you soooo much and think about you every day. I know one day this will all make sense. We love and miss you and can't wait to see you one day. I know you are here with us because I feel your presence often. You always made me feel so safe and protected and you could do anything. I wish I was as strong as you were. I am getting stronger because I have to be. It really sucks sometimes but I know everything will be okay and God and you are taking care of us. We love you and miss you baby....

Officer Campbell: I had the pleasure of meeting your brother Joshua while riding in the Police Unity Tour. He is quite a man. Strong, gentle, and respects you very much. I also met your parents and Chantel. They seem like super people too. Your mom was crying when Joshua came in on his bike. He rode all 3 days with hills, rain, and chilly weather. They all are very proud of you. Wish life was differant and we could have met. God Blessed with you a super family.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the second anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state and the birthplace of my son and to the community where I began my college education. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
To Jason's family: I hold you in thought and prayer today and know that Jason is loved and missed by so many.

Thinking of your loved ones today and everyday. I know the daily struggles they face without you and the terrible pain within their hearts. God, wrap your loving arms around them and help them with their grief and let them feel your presence.
Your sacrifice has not been forgotten.

Jason another friend and brother has fallen int the line of duty. He is a young man that died doing what he loved to do. His name is Allen Pearson. Welcome him into heaven and as I know you will show him all the good places to get good country cooking. I never go a day without thinking of you and the good times we had together fishing, hunting and joking around at work. You are a true friend and I miss you.

Chantel,
I was reading the reflections written to Jason, as I do so often, and it kind of made me feel guilty. It's been sort of a stressful week for me, but when I think about all you've been through it makes my trials seem trivial. I think about Jason every time I make that trip to PCDC and pass the place of his passing, but you and your kids come to mind more often than not. I just wanted to remind you that your law enforcement family, and more importantly, your church family is here for you.

What up Jason,
It has been a while since I have written. But every time I put my vest on, I put on my gun belt, I holster my gun, and make sure that I have everything for that 12hr. shift, I think of you. You and I had conversations that will stay with me forever. About the job and life. I am sorry that I moved so we could pull up next to each other and talk. We called each other and kept in touch but now it seems that was not enough. I think about that day when they laid u to rest and the look on Chantels face and ur little girl. It will be in my head forever!!! I never want my wife and son to through that but I know that it could happen at anytime. Jason, in a good way u made me think about life not the job. Miss u man!

Just wanted to say hello again. It has been hard to look at this site without getting all emotional. Josh, Diana, Christie and I just finished the COPS Walk today in honor of you and it was awesome. It meant a great deal to be able to share in the experience with all of them. Jason, don't ever think that you will ever be forgotten by any of us here.

I just wanted to leave a reflection to all the GPD wives. Never take your relationship for granted. Live each day to the fullest. Never leave or let him leave without saying "I love you and goodbye." Always support their job and duties as a police officer and be proud of them. They go through hell some days at work and really need our support to know that we stand behind them 100%. GPD will always be my family. Thank you for your continued prayers and God bless you all. Please pray for all our officers each and every day.
