Reflections for Police Officer Jason Campbell
I am very sorry for the family of Jason Campbell. The loss that they have experienced is heartbreaking. A wife is without a husband, children are without a dad, parents are without a son, a brother, friend, fellow officer, and hero has departed this earth to move into a new home. He will be missed because he touched lives in a positive way; he made a difference. I meet Jason when he attended Parkers Chapel with his wife Chantel. They were a very nice and kind couple. Jason assisted with a suspect that had jumped and ran back when he worked with the PCSO. He was a K-9 officer at the time and he was able to track the suspect. He offered his help and I believe he was sincere. I wish I had known him better. In being a local officer I see how this has affected the lives of fellow officers in the area. There are a lot of officers who worked with Jason that are hurting but we can take comfort in knowing that our brother has risen above us and shed his uniform for a Heavenly robe. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and fellow officers and deputies that he worked with. I am motivated to be a better husband, father, son, brother, officer, and friend because of the testimony that I heard Pastor Manning, Chaplain Langley and Chief Anderson sharing today at the funeral.

Jason, you were a good friend, neighbor, and officer. We love you and miss you dearly. Do not worry, your family is in our hands now and we will take care of them. I will miss the talks we shared and the projects we worked on together. I will miss your laugh and sense of humor. I will miss working with you and continuing our career together. My love and friendship always.
God bless and God speed brother.

"My Brother"
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what they represent.
He felt privileged to be of service to his department, his community and to his country.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong and became
frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he
never wavered.
He stood by and for his fellow officers.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely
weekends, holidays and midnights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling
and prayed they would understand.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated to the profession and cared about the
people he served.
He wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to
be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.
He was a cop.
Yes, I did know him.
He was a cop, he was my Brother.
Rest easy Brother Campbell, we have the watch...
”I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”
---Isaiah 6:8
You answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice. Rest easy in God's kingdom and watch over us as we continue the battle here on earth!!!

Jason there are many people we come in contact in life. Some that we grow and are increased from having spent time with them. Others not so much. You have definitely been a blessing to me and all of us who have known you. Thank you for your friendship and your service. We will miss you, but we'll meet again.

"A Tribute to a Cop's Wife"
For Chantel Campbell:
Honey, I'm sure you've heard at times during our married life,
From those who ask. Aren't you proud to be a policeman's wife?
But Honey, let me say this: it's you I'm proud of, and they would be, too.
If only they could see what it takes to be one and what she has to go through.
To be a lawman, it's no easy task to do what we have to do.
But it's a much harder job to be his wife, and it takes someone special like you.
And I know God chose you to be with me in this life.
Because he knew you had the quality and strength to be a cop's wife.
Some may say that I have courage and I'm a hero and that sort of thing;
And when I hear it, this thought to my mind it always brings:
It's you Honey, you're the courage behind this man's badge, don't you see;
And it's you Hon', who's the real hero, not me.
And I know you get lonely and frustrated at times and wonder if it's worth it all;
But if you ever left me, this "brave courageous hero" would be no man at all.
And I know you worry about the temptations I face on the streets,
Of the women of the night and girls that I meet.
But let me tell you this, Honey, and you listen good:
There's nobody on this earth who could replace you, they certainly never could.
And I know there are times when I go to work and you kiss me goodbye,
That you must worry and wonder if this is the day I've been chosen to die.
And Honey, if that should ever happen and someday become true,
Remember, Hon', my very last thoughts on this earth will be of you.

Goodbye to My Brother
I want to say good bye to a Great Law Enforcement Officer, Jason Campbell. Jason was one of the best men and cop I know. He was a loving husband and good father. He was caring and would always be there to help us whenever we called. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Jason; but most of all, having the Honor of being his Friend.
Let us pray this prayer.
God bless my family when I am away,
Leave the lights on I'll return from harms way,
Grant me courage and strength to protect others each day,
So they live in peace without worry, fear or dismay,
Bless those who have fallen given their life for another
May their spirit live on from then and forever,
Return me home to my family at the end of each night,
May I pass through the door before the morning's first light,
Shall I give my life for another before the dawn breaks today,
God bless my family when I am away.
Jason, God has called you home, I will Miss you.
May you rest in Peace my Brother.

Jason, I thank you for being you. I moved here to Greenville without anyone to call a friend. You recognized this and extended your heart and hand to me. I want your wife and children to know that their father and husband was a man that openend his friendship to a stranger from Indiana and made him feel as if he was a local. Thank you for being a friend to me.

Jason, I may have checked you 10-42 for the last time from GPD today but I know you are 10-41 in Gods Mighty Army. You are now a part of that "Great Cloud of Heavenly Witnesses" that is cheering us on. I cant make sense of what has happened but I know God can turn bad things into good and I know His Spirit will be leading and protecting Chantel and the children in the days ahead. See Ya on the other side my Friend!!!

Officer Campbell,
Your family is in my prayers. I know how difficult the road they started travelling on Saturday is. I pray the Lord will wrap his loving arms around them and carry them through the days ahead. Life will never be the same for them and them and things will never "get better", they will just learn how to live with the "new normal after April 14, 2007". You have joined a lot of other heroes patrolling the streets of heaven where you are free from sickness, sadness, pain & evil. God bless you officer!

Officer Campbell was a friend of many and will be missed dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. We watched the caravan of cars as they traveled their way to the cemetery. My 12 year old daughter went and put the flag she held as the cars passed on Jason's grave. Thank you for serving and being there for all the citizens of Pitt County.

9Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
29 He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless.
30 Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.
Go rest high Jason. I am going to miss you. your tireless work ethics and compassion for the citizens you served did not go unnoticed. Even though I find it difficult to understand God's plan, I take comfort in the personal knowledge that, thanks to the foot of the cross, we will meet again one day on the other side of that empty tomb! Until then my brother, Earl
