Reflections for Police Officer Jason Campbell
Jason, I always knew I would be willing to help in of our brothers and sisters in law enforcement, but I never thought it would be for a funeral. I enjoyed talking to you about your brothers and sister. I remember one time we talked about husbands and wives and you commented that "you had really picked a good one, she's a good girl". That spoke a lot about the kind of person you were, along with hearing you talk about spending time with your children. In a day and age where everyone is always on the go, you made time. Time for your family, friends, and people in the community. You will never be forgotten and you will be missed. Where you are Jason, there is no more suffering or pain and may the angels watch over your wife, children, and all of your family.

Jason,
Bobby Cox has been signed to a one-year contract extension...yeah! It's a shame we never convinced Charles to take me to see the Braves play with you. How about you save me a seat along the third baseline?
You will never know how much I respected you and treasured the friendship you had with Charles. I spent many hours laughing in the background while you two played football on the XBox. You practice up and maybe when you and Charles meet again your Seminoles will be able to beat his Sooners.
Thank you for your friendship, and most importantly thank you for being such a special friend to Charles.
Miss you, God Bless, and Rest in Peace.

Jason,
I heard your last words, I saw your final thoughts, and until the end, your dedication to enforcing North Carolina's law never fluctuated. I have been told that it was not my time to walk with you among the heavens, but one day, I will partner up with you again and we will laugh, smile, and enjoy each other's company once more. I have only been on this unit for a small amount of time, but I have already learned so much from you. When I was first applying here in Greenville, you were the FIRST officer that I rode along with. In my eyes, you were the picture and example of professional law enforcement. I will never forget your laid back demeanor, kind words, and relentless sense of humor. Know that you will never be forgotten, and every day that I live, I will live it to the fullest...the way you always did. For we only have one ass to risk (1*) Until we meet again, my brother in blue...

You touched so many lives in your time on earth. Ones that you may have never even known or how you may have touched them. While caring for you on Saturday...I was praying for you and your family. I will continue to pray for them in the time ahead. The Lord was truly blessed at your funeral service. May many more lives be touched in the years ahead. I pray that many more people will come to the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior as you did. I look forward to spending eternity with you in our wonderful Heaven created by our Lord.

To the Campbell family and friends
From the family of Det. Keith Dressel, Toledo Police, Vice EOW 02/21/2007
It's been almost 2 months since we lost our Keith in the line of duty. The shock, the outpouring of support, love and emotion is overwhelming. For us, it was amazing to see how people we didn't know in places across the country and the world are thinking of you and empathizing with you during this time of incredible loss.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this tragedy.

Jason:
You know in heaven, everyday is duck season and the skies are filled with birds. Pintails and Blackducks and Bluebills and Widgeon toll through the air in search of you. The Tundra Swan are calling. The wind is whipping the Currituck Sound and whitecaps roll across waters causing the decoys to swing and bounce back and forth. Your heart is warm, like a cup of coffee wrapped by fozen fingers, as you take a breath of the morning's cold air. The sun throws its scattered rays through the dark blue and gray clouds beyond the lighthouse. The birds are low and they set into the spread in huge flocks with their wings cupped, inviting your eye and reflexes for the shot.
In heaven, everyday is opening day.
Good hunting and God Bless you.

What a sad, sad day. Jason, you were a good officer and we miss you terribly. You honored us with your dedication and service. You're life was too short, and your death is a shocking loss to the community of Greenville, Pitt County and our broader Law Enforcement community. I am proud to have known you and worked with you. I hope that we honor you and your memory as continue our work.
I pray that God is close by and holding your family together, and lending his strength now, when we are shaken to our foundations. Walk with us now Lord, because we can't make it on our own. Please Jesus, show mercy on this family now, and let them heal. Please bring this community together in support of this family. I pray and depend on the promise of that bright day when we will all be united in Heaven with our Lord and Savior. Until then, we are your people. Help us show our faith by our works. Make us your instruments. Guide us and keep us on the path that Jason walked. Amen.

Jason, as we committed your body to the earth yesterday, I couldn't help but to keep looking up at the clouds and the beautiful flying weather and thinking about what a wonderful day it would be to be up there. A warm feeling came over me when the thoughts of you being there saying, I can't wait for them to see it from up here. Jason, you have touched many in your short time here, and know that you will be an inspiration for us for many years to come. Rest easy and know that many of us will see you again. 1*

Jason, Although I didn't have the opportunity to work with you, I know by our deputies and by the Greenville Chaplain that you were a devoted Christian, devoted Father, and a devoted officer. In this world of sin where professional athlete's often get the prestige of being a hero to many, you Sir are what heros are all about. Your willingness to put your life on the line to protect those you don't know shows more about your character, and more of what REAL heros should be. As I witnessed the many lives you touched by attending your funeral service, I came to know the man so many will miss. Your life and your translation into heaven has, and will continue to have a profound impact on many in the City of Greenville, and Pitt Co. May God bless your family, your fellow officers, and all of those who will dearly miss you.

"A Letter From Heaven"
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from Heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through
God picked me up and hugged me and he said,'I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on.
I need you here badly, you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.'
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night the days chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....In the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years.
Because you are only human they are bound to bring tears.
But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you would not understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you, and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one step at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you to;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night...."My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented...that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low:
Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go...from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going...you're coming here to me.
I will always be with you!
It doesn't seem like words at this time will give any type of comfort to those who knew PO WInget. But may later down the line these reflections can be read and can show how many people come here to leave thoughts and prayers for those who, did or did not know him.
We will keep all of you close in our hearts and prayers
GOD BLESS YOU ALL

My Friend My Son
I am at a loss of words. The special things I had to say I said them late lastnight at the cemetary and I am sure you heard me and knew what I ment. Pastor Jeff Manning said all the right things as I knew he would and I know you were proud. AS one of your training officers, supervisor, Impact team member and dive partner I knew i could count on you.I can only say that I was always proud of you and of your actions. I knew at the end of our shift your job had been done, done right and had been done more than what was called for. You went the extra step. Remember my words "Trust me when I tell you" still reflect to this day. On upcoming Family Thanksgivings and Christmas lunches and dinners your place at our table will always be remembered and not to mention our fishing trips. Now with a smile on my face and tears from my eyes I can only say you never bought me my new cooler, so I will see you on another day at another time and we will then carry on about "Our Cooler". Well my friend, my son and I say this as you would always refer to Ms.Cathy, Ray and Big Wayne as your family and Home away from home I will miss you more than you will know. I will say once again Thank you so much for helping taking care of me and being a son to me. We Love you just as you Loved us and I look forward to our late night chats as we always had and to seeing you again and (you can trust me when i tell you) See you soon, Love LT.(Ron Smith, Greenville,NC)
