To All Friends and Family-

When I heard the news about Lt Dahlem I was immedieately filled with sorrow and grief.

I have been away from home for a long time and hold the memories of growing up in the company of heros close to my heart. These memories have given me strength and comfort in times of difficulty. Weather my memories were of you all in uniform or in a more causal setting they are all held close to my heart.

It is with a heavy heart that I keep you all my prayers and send my condolences to all. I wish you comfort in your memories, as I have found, and speed in your healing.

God Bless you all.

LT, I am so honored that I had the chance to say good bye to you today. I know you heard me. I'm not sure why this happened and I'm not sure why it wasn't me, but I do know that God knows the big picture. We will watch over your family here on earth while you watch in heaven. Rest in Peace LT. You will be missed.

Lt. Dahlem was one of my FTO's during my initial training. Later on he was my Sgt. during a different assignment. I always considered him to be a warm, caring and dedicated officer. He taught me that family should come first, before the job. He was a terrific mentor and continued to be a good sounding board and friend during my tenure with the Gainesville Police Department.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, who I know he thought the world of. Nothing can bring him back but please know he was respected and will be missed. Sonya Groves

Ever since Corey was promoted to Lieutenant, I had the privilege to work for him. He was always easy to approach, and willing to help. He was a joy to be around.

A great memory I will always have from Corey, will be his practical jokes. He was always big on funny flyers that would lighten the mood around the office. If someone slipped up and did something silly, a request from Corey to bring in a flyer was not far behind. Whether people knew it or not, he orchestrated a lot of flyers, and it was great for morale. Every time I look at or make a similar joke, I will think of him.

Corey,
We had good times and great laughs. Even when you had to take the role of boss, I knew that it never changed the fact that you were a friend first. I will never forget the amazing way that you would speak of your family. With my son on the way, I hope that I can be half the father that you were. I will miss you always.

"A Letter From Heaven"
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from Heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through
God picked me up and hugged me and he said,'I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on.
I need you here badly, you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.'
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night the days chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....In the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years.
Because you are only human they are bound to bring tears.
But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you would not understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you, and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one step at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you to;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night...."My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented...that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low:
Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go...from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going...you're coming here to me.
I will always be with you!
Right now there are no words to relay how we feel about your loss of your husband. Words are empty. Hopefully, later on you can come here to this memorial and see all the support and thoughts that come from the hearts of many. Many who never knew your husband but can come here and offer you support.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Lieutenant Dahlem and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Lieutenant Dahlem has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends of Lieutenant Dahlem, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Lieutenant Dahlem is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
