To the family, friends, and fellow members of the Campbell County Sherrif's Office. It is with deep regret that we send our condoulences to you in this time of sorrow. Deputy Saunders has paid the ultimate sacrafice that we all know so well. It is a sacrafice that we have had engraved into us since day one of the academey. It is a sacrafice that we all are willing to face and take without hestitation at any time to make sure that others will sleep better at night.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Saunders family and also with his fellow brothers and sisters at the C.C.S.O. Event though I may not have known Jason personally, I can only imagine what kind of person, son ,friend or co-worker he was by seeing the volume of people mourning this terrible loss.
To Jason ...Rest in Peace brother...your job here on Earth has been done...You have been called home to help protect the streets of heaven... So rest easy..we will take over from here...
To the Saunders family....One thing you will truly see in the days, months and years to come that your son and you have become part of a loving family of brothers and sisters in blue...again ... our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of need

My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of this young hero. I grew up in Naruna and hve a cousin who is with the Campbell Co. SO.I married a deputy sheriff whom I lost 3 years ago. I understand your grief and pray that God will hold you lovingly in his arms and grant you some measure of peace. The thin blue line is being stressed this year, but will not be broken. Violence between humans is an age-old mark of sin. Cain slew Abel; Shechem raped Dinah; David plotted the death of Uriah. Massacres, raids and widespread abuse of peoples have been a part of our history. Those in power have often extended their racial, sexual economic and/or political domination through violent means. Violence is woven in and through the distinctive stories that have shaped us as Americans.Godspeed your family DS Saunders

“REMEMBER ME”
Law enforcement officers are, indeed, a special breed of people. Ask anyone on the street and they will tell you that they would not have our jobs for anything in the world. It takes something special to do what we do and at the same time be able to even contemplate retirement. We try to be optimists. Unfortunately, there are a few of us who will never make that date with retirement. By the very nature of our job, we are at risk everyday of losing our lives, either at the hand of some deranged individual or in some other situation that we, by virtue of our occupation, may be unable to avoid. Some people have recognized the hazardous duties we involve ourselves in, the risks we take, and the pride we take in accomplishing that job. There is National Law Enforcement Week, dedicated to us who gladly accept the responsibility of protecting the citizens in our respective jurisdictions. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. These are but two examples of remembrances specifically for law enforcement personnel. Remembrances that come but once a year. We should remind fellow officers of another type of remembrance, one that will last a lifetime. Sooner or later, a doctor will pronounce us dead. It is inevitable. Regardless of whatever happens, death is the end we will all have to face.

To all the family, loved ones, and all who knew D S Jason Saunders, we can only offer what we feel in our hearts at this moment. The words seem so empty at this time of a tragedy but hopefully later down the line the reflections from this memorial page will give those above some sort of comfort. This officer so young to be taken from his family, and we have no idea what God has in store from him right now. Only knowing that is a wonderful gift to be with the Lord.
"DON'T GRIEVE FOR ME"
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path god laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turn my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Task left undone must stay that way,
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Than fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I, too, will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow,
My life's been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
I believe in God and believe I will see you again.
God bless you all and hopefully all of us who leave our words here can bring you some sort of comfort
