Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Jeff Shelton

Rest in Peace my Brother! You will not be forgotten.

"I am a Warrior"

I fight not for glory or fame,
For they are momentary.
I fight for those who can't.
I fight for Justice.
I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden.
And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets,
For I serve to protect the innocent.
It matters not where or when,
For evil knows no boundaries.
Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny,
I will not flee.
Justice is my weapon.
Faith is my shield.
Hope is my armor.
Cry not at my passing,
For it was my Honor to fight for you.
Shed not tears of sorrow,
But tears of joy,
For now,
I stand with God.

"My Brother"

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what they represent.
He felt privileged to be of service to his department, his community and to his country.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong and became
frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he
never wavered.
He stood by and for his fellow officers.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely
weekends, holidays and midnights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling
and prayed they would understand.

He was a cop.

Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated to the profession and cared about the
people he served.
He wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to
be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.

He was a cop.

Yes, I did know him.
He was a cop, he was my Brother.

Rest easy Brother Shelton, we have the watch...

I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Isaiah 6:8

You answered the call and made the ultimate sacrafice. Rest easy in God's kingdom and watch over us as we continue the battle here on earth!!!

There are absolutely no words to say at this time to ease the pain that this family is feeling, nor the friends or Co-workers feel.
But please know that others who have walked this path before you are experiencing the pain with you. My son was also 35 years old when he was "Killed in the Line of Duty". Your head knows that this has happened but your heart can not accept it even after 5 1/2 years.
I want to express to you my deepest sympathy in the lost of Jeff and please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Today I also will shed tears for your loss, the memories will come back of that dreadful day when our family experienced our loss and our hearts go out to you at this time.
May God who is the great Comforter be with you and give you comfort and strength in the days to come.
God bless you.

To the Officers and their Families,

With Sympathy, God Bless you! We, here in Boston are riddled with violence on our streets and hearing this news from Charlotte, the Queen City where so many were proud of
living as here in Boston, there are no words to describe the despair and the saddness that has afflicked our respective community and one wonders how someone can brutally take the Life of a Police Officer attempting to
help each of us every day they sign on for duty or the children dying on Boston's streets at the hands of thugs....Helpless children....Enough is enough! What has happened to the respect for one another and regard for the value of Life. Christopher Tingus, Cape Cod, Massachusetts
