Reflections for Police Officer Jeff Shelton

It is with great sorrow that we mourn your loss. May you know that your "law enforcement family" feels your pain. We know that it is only by the grace of God that many more of us have not suffered the same fate. Thank you Jeff, for making the ultimate sacrifice. We know you didn't do it for the money, or the great hours, or the wonderful working conditions...you did it out of love for your fellow man... and we want you to know that your sacrifice will not go unappreciated. Thank you for making our world a better place. May you look into the face of Jesus today and know that you have done your job...and done it well, and trust that He will take care of your family and your "brothers and sisters" and that He is in control. God bless you and your family.

Police Officer's Prayer to St. Michael

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises
of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional
eyes on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for
investigation and wise judgement.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and
law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores,
strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences
with the devil that the police officer's lot on earth is not
always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so
pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the
devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your
heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the
throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all
the people. Amen.

I am so very outraged, sickened and disheartened to hear of this senseless, tragic and corardly murder of two of my brother NC officers. I offer my sincerest condolences and prayers to the family, friends and collegaues of OFC Shelton and the CMPD. NC has had a hard year starting out in 2007 and this is proof.

The CMPD has suffered such terrible losses and tragedy in its honored history of protecting the Queen City and Mecklenburg County. I pray that these vicious, cowardly animal(s) responsible for this attrocious assasination are brought to swift justice.

Officerf Shelton, Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends (John 13:15). We are all proud of you. Our brother now walks a beat in Heaven with St, Michael's platoon as his final roll call is done in this world and he now rests for eternity in glory. As we mourn the loss, we must never forget to celebrate the life.

God Bless and rest easy brother, we have the watch from here.

My deepest sympathy to his family upon the death of Officer Shelton. I have no doubt that the members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg PD, and all law enforcement, will not rest until the brutal killer(s) are caught and brought to justice. "In valor there is hope" surely applies to these fine officers. Rest in peace!!

DO NOT LET YOUR HEARTS BE TROUBLED. BELIEVE IN GOD, BELIEVE ALSO IN ME. IN MY FATHERS HOUSE THERE ARE MANY DWELLING PLACES. IF IT WERE NOT SO, WOULD I HAVE TOLD YOU THAT I GO TO PREPARE A PLACE FOR YOU? AND IF I GO AND PREPARE A PLACE FOR YOU, I WILL COME AGAIN AND WILL TAKE YOU TO MYSELF, SO THAT WHERE I AM, THERE YOU MAY BE ALSO. AND YOU KNOW THE WAY TO THE PLACE WHERE I AM GOING.
