Reflections for Police Officer Jeff Shelton
May God be with the families of Officers Clark and Shelton and share his grace during these difficult times. I did not know either officer personally, but have read/heard many of the thngs that made them great officers and even more important wonderful human beings. I will continue to pray for them, their families, and the safety of all in the LE community.

Jeff,
All I can manage to say is My Heart Hurts....I can still hear your voice clearly and it intensifies my pain however I find comfort in the scriptures knowing that you are with the Lord
I will see you again someday of this I am certain
Your memory will be fiercely guarded in my heart
--Your friend and former 3rd shift Dispatcher
But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 1Th 4:13-14
And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I remember the fist time I met Shelton... I was the night manager at the Starbucks on East Blvd. and he responded to a call there. We were having trouble with Larry, our resident drunk. After the situation was resolved we gave him a free coffee out of gratitude... i remember how excited he was (the man loved coffee). After that he just kept coming back. He would hang out in the store sometimes til close. Ha always had a funny story or a smart comment to make. He was one of the reasons i loved my job so much. My staff and i were like a family and he was a part of it. My heart broke into a zillion peices when i saw his face on the news Sunday morning. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of both officers and the whole department.

To the family, friends, coworkers,
I know your pain, I feel your loss, this brother of mine will not be forgotten. I may be across the country but every death rings to the core of every Officer and Deputy. We are ALL here for you. You are all in my prayers.
To Officer Shelton,
Rest My Brother, We Will Take It From Here....
"My Brother"
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what they represent. He felt privileged to be of service to his department, his community and to his country.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong and became
frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he
never wavered. He stood by and for his fellow officers.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours. He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely weekends, holidays and midnights when they were apart. He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling and prayed they would understand.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated to the profession and cared about the
people he served. He wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.
He was a cop.
Yes, I did know him.
He was a cop, he was my Brother.

Be With Me
Be with me, God, when I'm happy
And all of my skies are blue;
Don't let me take life for granted
But for ever be thankful to You.
Be with me, God, when I'm sad
And my heart is filled with pain;
Help me to always remember
I'll walk in the sunshine again.
Be with me, God, when I wander
Away from the path I should tread;
Gently guide me home once more,
Only You knows what lies ahead.
Be with me, God, for all of the years
Safe in your loving care.
I'll not let my faith ever waver
For I know You will always be there.
