Reflections for Police Officer Sean Robert Clark

Two very brave and courageous men who entered the unknown on that day have given their lives for their community. They made the ultimate sacrifice. May the memory of your service, heroism and sacrifice remain forever. May God bless you and your family. AC

Aloha Police Officer Sean Clark,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own, Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life last year in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum; a keeper of the ODMP light. That sacred light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here.

This "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who cares to share a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is a hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. May we find solace as we give solace to the families who have lost a loved one.

Police Officer Sean Clark, God Bless you. You are a hero. As we say in Hawaii, “You are`Ohana.” “You are Family.” No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one; not in this lifetime. May God allow you to rest in His Divine peace. I wish you, your loved ones, and your fellow officers, peace and love beyond all understanding. I honor you today. You will NEVER be forgotten.

--"Your life is more important than you can imagine."-- Maya Angelou

** May this Hawaiian prayer give all those who read it comfort. **

THE PEACE OF " I "

To Officer Clarks wife and family,

I am deeply sorry for your loss, and although things may seem really tough at this point in time you have to realize that your husband left this world as a hero. He made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that everyone in your community remained safe. I think him for his services and I just extend my prayers to not only you, his wife, but your son and your little one on the way. Your children will grow up and be able to tell everyone that their daddy was a hero. Stay strong.

When I heard the news of the gunfire that took the lives of two heroes, my heart sunk. My big brother was a police officer in Suffolk, VA and lost his life in a foot chase two years ago. I know just how difficult this time is for the families as well as for this Department. It is devastating. Please stick together. Love, friendship and laughter is all that got us through. Know that you are all in our hearts and prayers and if there is anything you need... even if it is just a friendly hello, I am here. You are not alone.

To my fellow brother in law enforcement, may you rest in peace. Thank you for your dedicated service and your ultimate sacrifice. My Department and I know all too well the pain your family, friends and fellow officer are feeling right now. It was less than two months ago that we lost one of our family members, Officer C. Callemyn. During our mourning, I found this poem that brought me some peace....

We little knew that morning that
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly.
In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone,
for part of us went with you
the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories.
Your love is still our guide.
And though we cannot see you,
you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one,
the Chain will link again.

I knew Sean as a fellow parent. Our boys were in class together at school and we were on the same "birthday party circuit." I would see him in the hallways at the pre-school/day care. He came to the class to talk to the kids about being a police officer on career day and my son still has his officer friendly coloring book, although his sticker badge is long since gone.
Sean was such a devoted father. He loved his son dearly and anyone could see that when they saw Sean look at Brayden. My heart goes out to Sean. He wasn't ready to go. He was prepared to live a long time longer and all that he will miss in the lives of his children absolutely breaks my heart.
There are no guarantees in life. As a result, I see life differently now and will live my life more authenically each day.

You made a difference Officer Clark.
