My heart is broken for his wife, but those 5 babies are what is killing me. No child should have to lose their father this way. I am praying for the family of Officer Martinez. My God give them strength during this terrible time and peace in their hearts. Many, many, many prayers are being sent up on your behalf.

Officer Martinez,
I am truly saddened to hear of your passing. Very few people have the committment to serve their community the way you have. My thoughts are with you and your family, your friends and the Fort Smith PD.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Martinez and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Officer Martinez has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends of Officer Martinez, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Martinez is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

My prayers go out to the family, friends, and fellow officers of Martinez. Today, we lost another officer in our law enforcement family. I empathize because I am a fellow law enforcement officer and my grandfather was murdered in the line of duty. While our soldiers fight the wars overseas, we fight the never-ending war here on our homeland against crime. May God watch over us and bless officer Martinez. You served well…we will continue the fight.

Danny,

What's it been almost twenty years since me, you, and Doug were in high school together in Poteau. Then almost ten years ago you and I worked together in nearby cities, you in Shady Point and me in Wister. Then you went to Wister after I left. I always knew that they were in good hands with you on patrol. I was never more proud to hear when you went to FSPD, but would have been happier with you working with me here in Van Buren. I often remember some of the times we spent together through the years and now the memories will be even closer to me. You are truly an inspiration to me and will always be.
