I have known Officer Martinez since the beginning of his career, he never meet a stranger, he was always there for you when you needed him. His friendship touched the lives of many people. I am very proud of Danny, he took great pride in his job as a Police Officer. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, parents, brother and sister. Danny, we love you and you will greatly be missed, but you will never be forgotten. You are the greatest HERO!

Officer Danny Martinez was a good officer and a wonderful man - one of the best. Danny conducted his duties in a professional manner and brought honor to the badge. He had a great sense of humor and he loved children. I was fortunate enough to spend a great deal of time with Danny while he served as police chief in Wister and I witnessed time and again his dedication to the children of that town. A fantastic life was snuffed by a cowardly maggot who didn't even have the courage or decency to face his punishment - may his eternal punishment match his crime.

My prayers and thoughts are with Danny's family. I worked as a Paramedic in Leflore County for 8 years. I knew Danny from when I was in EMS. As the wife of an officer, I pray I never have to go through what his wife is going through right now. God Bless You and your family.

I met officer Martinez just minutes before he was so sadly slain in the line of his duties. I believe he was a just and fair individual who loved protecting and serving the citizens of the area. I still cannot believe what has happened and I cannot fathom what Officer Martinez' wife and children must feel. I want to extend my deepest condolences and let them know I am praying for them every night and will never forget the face of one Officer Daniel C. Martinez as long as I breathe.

After getting a phone call telling us that one of our own had been taken, I held my husband tightly in my arms as we both wept. It was Danny's time to bare his cross and he did so bravely and with great honor. Thank you Lord for lending him to us if only for a short time. Thank you Martinez family for loving him and supporting him in his career and sharing him with us. May God grant you peace and comfort in your time of loss.
We will NEVER forget this fine young officer or his sacrifice.

Some say that a person's worth is shown by the number of friends and family that surround him. Friday night, Danny proved to be worth millions!!! The number of friends, family and even strangers that came to show their support for Danny was amazing. That same support is now being extended to his family. One could only hope that during our time on earth we would make such an impact on so many individuals. Danny as night falls, shine down on your EMS friends, and give us light as we continue to provide care to the ill and injured. We know you'll be the brightest star shining. Alice, I will think of you often and pray for easier days. VH

Thank you Officer Martinez for all that you have given. We all wish you were still with us but, we know you are in a much better place. You are gone but never forgotten. Thank you to the wife of Officer Martinez. Being a police officer is one of the hardest jobs of all but, comes second to being the spouse of a police officer. You and your family are in all of our thoughts and prayers. God Bless.

Ft. Smith lost a hero on March 23, 2007 and this community grieves for that loss. I had not met Daniel but I have heard and read that he was a fine man and a wonderful officer of the law. My prayers are with his wife, his children, and the other members of his family. I know his fellow officers and his close friends will also have a deep emptiness, with him gone. My prayers go to all of you too.
Every day officers put on their uniforms to go out into their communities to serve and protect the citizens. They put their lives on the line daily for us. They deserve our respect and our support.
Officer Daniel C. Martinez, it was a honor to have you working for the city of Ft. Smith
