Reflections for Officer Daniel C. Martinez
To Alice,
We are very sorry for your loss. We talked with Danny several time at Wister school when our son was attending Wister Schools. He was very nice and we always saw him talking to the kids at the school. I pray that you and the kids are doing ok and you are in our prayers. Danny will be missed.
God Bless you,

Danny, Gaw, just reading this brings a lot of tears..but I could never help but laugh at you... I loved having you a part of my family. I never got to tell you you're my favorite.. You're a great man, The greatest most have and will ever see.

Always, always tell your freinds how much you love them for you never know when it will be the last. Always treat every person respect, honor and love - it may be the only time they get it, or the time that they need it the most.... that's so true in Danny's situation.
I am wanting to hold a candlelit service for Danny Martinez, his family and all of our wonderful law enforcement. I want to show everyone our appreciation and support for what they do.
Too often we don't take the time to thank them for putting their lives on the line (which they do everyday) to keep us feeling safe. There are alot of caring people who I feel would also like to show their love and support for Danny and all law enforcement officers. I would like for all of us to come together on the evening of his funeral services and show that support, love, affection, emotion... whatever you want to call it.
I would like to do it Friday night, starting around 6 pm out at the PARC in Poteau. I am awaiting permission from the city, because it will be a large event and they need to prepare for such a service. I ask that everyone bring a paper cup, paper plate, candle, and any memoribilia (?) that you have of Danny, his wife, kids, family, friends... or any other law enforcement officer you would like to support. There will be a central location to place pictures, poems, anything that you may bring. We will deem this the "Dedication Station" for everyones viewings.
I ask that you please DO NOT LIGHT YOUR CANDLES! I want this to be a flame that starts with his closest member (wife, kids, family - if they can make it) and extend from them all the way back around to it's original starting point (a huge circle) for them to see how much support, and love there is for them and other law enforcement officer.
Please repost this, and pass it along to everyone you know.... and when I give the final details, please do the same then. If you would like to contact me for more details, or because you would like to help I may be reached by cell phone at 918-647-7956 email at [email protected] .
With love, respect and honor Heidi Roberts-Hall 918-647-7956 [email protected]
Please forgive me if I left anything out on here, I can't type or concentrate very well when I can't see the computer screen for all the tears in the way.
with Love, Heidi Jo Roberts-Hall

Alice and Family,
I can't even imagine what all of you are going through, But I do know that it is hard. My husband is the Fire Chief in our town and eveytime he gets paged out I pray just as I am doing for you and your family. May God be with you and soothe the ache in your hearts. Danny was a good man, father, son, brother, husband and friend. I remember when ya'll would come into the Lake Wister Cafe he was always smiling and you could tell by the way he looked at you Alice that he loved you so much. He will be missed.

Danny, I will always remember you being a goof ball during school. You always smiled and lightened the day. You are a good man.
To Alice, I know your life has had many obstacles. You have not had it easy in anyway. God be with you thru these times. I pray that He give you and the kids the strength to carry Danny with you throughout your lives.

Danny, your presence here is greatly missed. Your kindness towards people and your strong desire to do the best you can to protect and serve did not go unnoticed. You were an awesome person and I will always miss walking at the park and waving at you as you drove by while on patrol.
My thoughts are with your family and I pray for Him to comfort them in the days ahead.
Rest in Peace Danny.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Officer Martinez personally. However, being the wife of a law enforcement officer, I want to thank Danny for his sacrifice. I also want to extend my deepest condolences to his family. While I know that no words can ease their pain, I would like for them to rest easy knowing that Danny's sacrifice was not made in vain. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." (Matthew 5:9). The Martinez family will be in my prayers.

We attended school with Danny and his brother Doug at Monroe and we had something in common with Danny and Doug and that was me and my sister being twins also (and they also teased my sister Joan who is younger about not being named Charity). We had forgotten all the wonderful memories we had at Monroe school like the work-outs we endured with Coach Stacy to math class with Mr.Goins. You were a great guy then and it didn't change as you grew into a great man. Our prayers are with your family.

My deepest thoughts and prayers are with Officer Martinez's wife, children, family, friends and co-workers. I was married to Alabama State Trooper Brian Nichols EOW 2/17/2002 and I am now married to Washington County Deputy Sheriff Aaron Carpenter. All of your COPS family is here for you and hurting for you. We all became a family when our loved ones became police officers and now we have even a stronger bond when one of our family members go down. We are here for you to help you along this journey you now have joined with us. God bless you all.

Danny and his family were our neighbors near gilmore for several years. How many I'm not for sure,10 at least. I know it was long enough to hear those engines when they were getting them ready for tri-state. We got so used to them we didn't even know they were running. We kinda enjoyed listening to them and watching them do a slow test drive down our road. I always had a hard time telling danny and doug apart so I simply said whose danny or whose doug it never bothered them I guess they always seemed to get a kick and giggle from me not knowing. These guys were just like socks and shoes, don't have one without the other. Mold them together and you would have to change name. Very close, always smiling, great personality. We enjoyed having these guys as friends and neighbors. you need to pray that if someone moves in close to your neighborhood that they would resemble Danny Martinez and his family. We hope they have earplugs in heaven because he has I'm sure already started the engine for another race. You guys understand that the support you have to get through this will be the strongest most heart felt feeling that you could ever encounter. Hold on and never forget that will again see Danny. Thanks again for being our friends and neighbors. Brad McMillin and Family

DANNY, YOU MADE PEOPLE LAUGH
WHEN THEY WANTED TO CRY,
YOU WERE ALWAYS HONEST WITH EVERYONE

THEY COULD COUNT ON YOU TO BE THERE FOR THEM
THEY WILL ALWAYS AND FOREVER KNOW....

I worked with Danny for several years while I was employed with the District Attorney's Office in Poteau, Oklahoma. Danny was always an outstanding example of what a law enforcement officer should be - always respectful, kind, helpful and polite, and one of the nicest young men I have ever met.
I am devastated at his untimely death but sincerely thank him for his willingness to serve and protect others. May God bless and comfort his family and give them strength to get through this extremely difficult time.

A POLICE OFFICER'S PRAYER
Lord I ask for courage
Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears...
Courage to take me
Where others will not go...
I ask for strength
Strength of body to protect others
And strength of spirit to lead others...
I ask for dedication
Dedication to my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
To keep it safe...
Give me Lord, concern
For others who trust me
And compassion for those who need me...
And please Lord
Through it all
Be at my side...

To the family of Officer Daniel Martinez
I had the priveledge of meeting Danny one night for "lunce" while he was on duty. I gained so much respect from him that night as I heard him talk about his wife and children. Danny, my husband and I joked about how many more kids we thought Danny would have! As the wife of a police officer, my heart goes out to you, the family of Danny. I have often had my worries of the dreaded knock on the door from one of my husband's "brothers". You are all in my prayers and ANYTHING I can do for you I will be more than willing.

I did not know you as well as many did at the Department. In fact, I had my first and only conversation with you in the parking lot on Friday before you started your shift. I later responded to the original call that preceded this tragic incident. I briefly spoke to the coward that took your life. I keep asking myself "Did he say something? Did he do something? " that could have predicted this outcome. I do not believe he did just as I know you could not have predicted this senseless ambush. Since then, I have learned a great deal about you. I grieve for you and know that we have lost a remarkable officer. You were a true professional and a real credit to our profession. You will never be forgotten.
