Reflections for Senior Corporal Mark Timothy Nix
First and foremost, I want to send my condolences to the Nix family. We may have lost a hero, but we have gained another angel!! It is never easy to deal with losing someone so special. It's even harder to accept death when someone lives their life to help other people. Know that Mark is in a better place and looking down on all of you with a smile. He wouldn't want you to be sad, he would want you to celebrate his life and remember all the great things he has done.... and the many smiles he has left on so many faces. Rest In Peace and know you are never forgotten!!!

The death of Senior Corporal Mark Nix is deeply felt by Senior Corporal Herbert (Bert) Smilie's mother and step-father living in Northern Virginia. Please, know that the we are in prayer for your son and for the peace that only God can give to you. His picture shows a handsome young man; his record of service to his country and Dallas tells of his courage and willingness to serve others. Blessings, Chester and Katherine Lund

I am here
Happy you remember me
Cheering your spirit
Catching your tears
I am here
With you when you go into the unknown
Beside you in the depth of the night
Listening with you for the sound of those in need
I am here
Hear me in your memories
Hold me in your thoughts
Laugh with me in reflection
I am here
Swollen with pride as you stand together
Happy my for my family as you make them your own
Weeping with you when the pipes play, for me and others
I am here
Waiting for justice
I am here
With all who went before me
Watching over you with them
Smiling broadly as they remark on how you carry on
And know when you go into the unknown
To battle evil, protecting the weak
Saving the foolish, sometimes from themselves
I was with you then and still
I am here

You all are now part of a much larger family that will be there for you always. "Doc" when you were over in the "Sandbox" you helped save wounded Marines lives and as a cop in Dallas you protected the lives of the people in that city. You are a true HERO. "My Brother"
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what they represent.
He felt privileged to be of service to his department, his community and to his country.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong and became
frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he
never wavered.
He stood by and for his fellow officers.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely
weekends, holidays and midnights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling
and prayed they would understand.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated to the profession and cared about the
people he served.
He wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to
be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.
He was a cop.
Yes, I did know him.
He was a cop, he was my Brother.
Rest easy Brother Nix, we have the watch...
I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
