I would like to send my prayers to both officiers families. This is a shock to all the brothers and sisters of Auxiliary Police forces in North America. I hope that a tragedy like this one will wake up the brass of police forces and see the need to arm auxiliary officiers while performing duites to up hold peace for the communites that we live in.
God bless them both.

Hero's N.Y.P.D. Officers Nicholas T. Pekearo and Yevgeniy Marshalik, They dont make them any braver.
Those heros answered there radios and responded to a armed robbery with no weapons to protect themselves. They engaged the suspect chased him as he fled while radioing in there location and description of the suspect. As he pulled a weapon they retreated and the suspect chased them down, this enabled backup officers to arrive on location and take the suspect out. If they did not do what they did the suspect would of been g.o.a. and other lives would of been at risk. By putting there lives on the line and keeping the suspect in sight and occupied it enabled backup officers to arrive before he fled the area..
They are hero's, rest in peace my brother's...

To Officer Marshalik's family: This young man could have taught me some things. He confronted an armed individual with no weapon. He did not have to do that. He was a hero and he saved others by doing what he did. He had GUTS.

It's not how you die that makes a hero... it's how you live. For Officer Marshalik to pursue a killer, while unarmed, was beyond heroic.

This is a tragic reminder that it can happen. I have found in my Auxiliary career that the additude it can't happen to me as I am an Auxiliary is in our organization. We have different duties at times than a regular member, but are still exposed to the public. The public only see's the uniform. A training officer of mine once said to me "you look like a duck, act like a duck, talk like a duck, the bad guy only see's a duck".

As an Auxillary Deputy as well as vol. FF/EMT Ican sense the dedication to community these two officers had. Each time we put on the uniform we take a chance, but with no concern to ourselves if a person is in trouble. I am reminded of a scripture verse"No greater love is that, then of aman woho would lay down his life for that of another",my quote may not be exact my my sentiment's are there. To the families of these two OFFICERS, I would like to simply say, may CHRIST JESUS be with you now and alway's.

Officer Marshalik "HERO" is not a big enough word to describe an incredible life and a great human being. Service to humanity is the greatest prayer. Brother, I attended both funerals this weekend. I stood there is the cold and greived for a brother officer who died so other my live. There is no greater honor. I served with the NYPD Auxiliary for five years. I am currently a APO with Suffolk County, NY PD. This hit home more than you will ever know. To all your brother and sisters in the NYPD Auxiliary, god bless all of you. I sit here and reflect on my twenty years of service and this is one of the saddest moments I can remember. These volunteer officers gave their lives and certainly have a place among the Angels in Heaven. The lives they saved not only civilians but also Police Officers that evening was countless. May their spirits live on forever and God bless their souls. May we always remember them and never forget their sacrifice.
