Reflections for Auxiliary Police Officer Nicholas Todd Pekearo

This is a terrible tragedy of the worst kind. God Bless you Officer Pekearo, you were a hero, and heros never die, as they are remembered as such by the people who loved them, and the people they protected. It sounds like you saved perhaps many lives last night. God Bless your family, and help them to be at peace, and to feel your love and protection around them. Family: I know you will forever be proud of this fine man, who VOLUNTEERED to help protect the city, and in doing so has made the ultimate sacrifice.

I wish to send to my deepest sympathies to the family of Nicholas T. Pekearo, as well as the members of the NYPD and it's Auxiliary unit. You will be be in my prayers during this time of grief. As a 5 year member of Saint Paul's Police Reserve unit, I understand the dangers that come with wearing the uniform and badge. However I also understand the great satisfaction that comes from providing such a valuable service to one's community. Nicholas has given the ultimate sacrifice for the City of New York, and the country as a whole. He will always be remembered.

Though unarmed, you saw your duty and followed this crazed man. Had no one kept him in sight, who knows what else this man may have done and how many more he may have killed. Officer Pekearo, you and your partner, Officer Marshalik are heroes in the truest sense. You put yourselves in harms way for the sake of others. It was with much sadness I learned of your deaths and my heart goes out to all who know and love you and to the New York City Auxiliary Police. Though unpaid and unarmed, you give of yourselves for the benefit of others. God Bless you all, especially these fallen men.

It is truly a tragic time not only for the NYPD within itself, but most of all the Auxiliary Police program. As Voulnteer members of the police department, these two NYPD Auxiliary police officers didicated their time and in this case their lives to be active in law enforcement. They made the ultimate sacrifice as voulnteer, non-paid police officers and myself and others are truly honored and proud as NYPD Auxiliary Police officers. May they both rest in peace and be forever rewarded for the sacrifices they made.
God Bless

I heard about the shooting on the news, you and your partner went out of your way to make sure a killer didn't disappear into the night. Both of you were unarmed facing up against an armed man but that didn't stop either of you from following him until backup arrived. Thanks to your quick thinking other officers were able to keep a killer from killing again. I am so sorry that both of you had to lose your lives in order to keep all of us safe from harm.
Rest Easy, you will not be forgotten.

I am very saddened to hear of the deaths of these fine officers who volunteered to serve their city, community and citizens. I hope that the NYPD will consider arming auxillary officers in the wake of this tragedy. They now walk a beat in Heaven with St. Michael as their last roll call was completed. I offer my sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of these good peace officers. Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends John 13:15. Rest easy hero in blue, we have the watch from here.
