Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Sidney Robert Biggs
It has been 100 years now since that fateful day. I tried to honor you as best I could by informing all the officers I work with that on this date you, my great grandfather died in the line of duty protecting the citizens of Shelby County. You were remembered by many today. The watch is still mine but there are others following. My kids are now serving and protecting at my agency with me. The tradition is alive and well Sir, RIP.
Your great grandson.

What a waste for everyone. My Great Uncle Samuel Fowler was a witness of the event and was one of many who attempted to help the Sheriff. This guy escaped from the asylum in Jacksonville...I was very impressed with the concern of the Sheriff and all others involved to try to protect the towns' people and bring in Lotus Davis alive and unharmed. I have a full account of the even written by Dr. Fritz of Cowden if anyone is interested.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 92nf anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
Rest In Peace.

To my Great Grandfather: I never got the opportunity to know you in this life but Grandmother talked about you often when I was young. And even though we never met, when I'm out there on the street I can feel your presence guiding me through dangerous times. Because of you and men like you, we who are serving today learn the lessons of the past in order to prevent history from repeating itself.
I'm sure you already know, but your name will be added to the National Memorial Wall this year and it is my Great Honor to be present and represent you when your name is read. So rest easy Sir, the watch is mine and I will not fail to uphold my oath to protect and serve just as you did.
Your Great Grandson.
