Reflections for Sergeant Tommaso Popolizio

My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to the family, friends and members of the Newark Police Department on the tragic loss of Sergeant Tommaso Popolizio. May the Lord Almighty comfort all of you during this time of sorrow and anguish. There is a special place for all Police Officers, for we are truly the "Children Of God", for Tommaso will never feel pain and sorrow ever again. His watch is over, for he had made the ultimate sacrifice. May God watch over him for eternity for Sergeant Popolizio has earned the right to be with his Lord & Savior. May Peace and the love of God be with all his family, friends and the N.P.D.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Sergeant Popolizio and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Sergeant Popolizio has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends of Sergeant Popolizio, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Sergeant Popolizio is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Sgt Popolizio, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest

YESTERDAY IS HISTORY, TOMORROW IS A MYSTERY AND TODAY IS A GIFT.

SERGEANT POPOLIZIO, YOU REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND. I SALUTE YOU! MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU, YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES. I THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. YOU DID NOT LOSE YOUR LIFE, YOU GAVE IT IN SERVICE TO OTHERS. A TRUE HERO INDEED.

THOSE CLOSE TO THIS HERO, PLEASE TAKE COMFORT IN KNOWING THAT I, ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS ACROSS THIS LAND, GRIEVE WITH YOU. KEEP HIM IN YOUR HEART, AND PASS HIS STORY ALONG. MAY GOD BLESS YOU.

JOB WELL DONE, SERGEANT.

I LIVED IN NEWARK FROM BIRTH UNTIL 11 YEARS OLD. WE MOVED IN 1966. I HAVE VERY FOND MEMORIES OF MY CHILDHOOD IN WHAT ONCE WAS A BEAUTIFUL CITY. THE CITY HAS DETERIORATED, BUT NOT THE COMMITMENT OF THOSE THAT PROTECT AND SERVE.

NEWARK DEPUTY CHIEF KEVIN SCHNEIDER, I GRIEVE WITH THE DEPARTMENT. IF YOU REMEMBER, I USED TO TAKE YOUR MOM HOME FROM 900 CLINTON IN THE CAB. SHE ALWAYS INVITED ME IN FOR COFFEE. I HAVEN'T SEEN YOU FOR OVER 20 YEARS, BUT HAVE FOLLOWED YOUR MOVES UP THE LADDER IN THE DEPARTMENT, FROM PATROL IN THE EAST DISTRICT TO THE BUREAU AND SO ON. I THINK OF YOU, YOUR MOM AND PHIL OFTEN.

GOD BLESS ALL MEMBERS OF THE NEWARK POLICE DEPARTMENT. YOU ARE ALL IN MY PRAYERS, ALONG WITH SERGEANT POPOLIZIOS FAMILY.

Another angel has been lost today. And I am so sorry to hear we have lost another hero. I lost my dad three weeks after I was married while he too was protecting and serving to keep us safe. My dad Bob Grim, of Ormond Beach Florida was killed while doing what he loved as Sergeant Tommaso Poplizio. No words can explain why they are taken from us, but one thing is for certain they are never forgotten.
My heart goes out to the family of Sergeant Popolizio and can only imagine the saddness that the family is having to face.
May God watch over you. May God give your loved ones peace and know that you will always be remembered and never forgotten. Godspeed Mary-11. God bless you and your family.
