I'm filled with tears as I thank you for your service. We lost one of your brothers here (in Colorado) a couple months ago, and I just want you to know one thing - your family will be well cared for by your brothers and sisters in blue. I've come to learn it's a family beyond any in the traditional sense.
Rest well - you've earned it.

Another brother lost. Far too many make this sacrifice. But the rest of us will continue to fight the good fight. It is how we remember the ultimate sacrifice of our brothers and sisters such as Sgt. Popolizio. God be your chief amongst a squad of angels. Rest in peace.

Rest in Peace Brother! You will never be forgotten. May God's angels watch over your family. Your dedication to the uniform and to the shield will forever be remembered. You made the ultimate sacrifice while ensuring both the safety of your family and the community. As police officers, we walk that thin line between good and evil. My deepest sympathies are extended to your family from my family. You will always be in our thoughts and in our prayers. God Bless!

"The Man Behind the Star"
It takes a special kind of man
to wear a badge and gun
To devote his life entirely to fight
the battles that must be won.
So often he's not appreciated
for the job he has sworn to do.
But he'd gladly lay down his life
because he wears that badge for you.
Some seem to think
that he really has it made
That all he does is ride around
for the salary he's paid.
But every time trouble appears
he's the first one that they call.
it's only then they realize
he's special after all.
There's a man behind that badge
who has feelings just like you.
So seldom does he get praise
for all the things he'll do.
If you ever stop and think
of what he faces day and night
You'd respect what he stands for
and learn to treat him right.
There a man behind that badge
and he's not made of steel
and the things we watch on T.V.
to him are very real.
He has a family of his own
he can laugh and he can cry
Each day he puts on that badge
could be his day to die
He chose to uphold the law
a decision made from his heart
To protect us with his life and give
each child a better start.
Try always to remember
there's a man behind the badge
and he'll be the first to help you
no matter who you are
You should say a prayer each night,
to thank God that he's there.
When you see him on the streets,
you should show him that you care.
Without the sacrifice he makes,
we'd always live in fear,
He should be commended
to wear the badge he holds so dear.
He's never turned his back on you,
faced danger close and far.
All Americans should salute
the man behind the badge.

"Let's Go get 'em"... The first words you said to me when I first meet you. You will always be in my heart as a "True Man in Blue." I think you for the encouragement you gave me for the time we have been on the force together. You are a well spoken for sergeant and you will never be forgotten. My heart goes out to you and your family. You are now our "Angel in Blue."

Rest in peace Brother Popolizio, your are a hero in the eyes of many. My prayers go out to you and your family
A Prayer for all Law Enforcement Officers
The Officer's stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
They hoped their shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as their brass.
"Step forward now, Officers.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The men squared their shoulders and
The Policeman spoke first
"No, Lord, I guess We ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
We've had to work most Sundays,
and at times our talk was rough,
and sometimes we've been violent,
Because the streets are tough.
The Corrections Officer then added,
But we never took a penny,
That wasn't ours to keep...
Though we worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And we never passed a cry for help,
Though at times we shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive us,
We've wept unmanly tears.
Together they say,
We know We don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted us around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for us here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
We never expected or had too much,
But if you don't...We'll understand.
There was silence around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the Officers waited quietly,
For the judgment of their God.
"Step forward now, Officers,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."
