Reflections for Sergeant Tommaso Popolizio

God bless your loved ones, both your immediate family and Police family. Even though these are sad times for your friends, family and brothers in blue. Know that they are truly thankful for every day, hour, minute that you were in their lives. Know that they will continue to think of you every day. Weather it brings to them a smile of happiness from a fond memory, or a sorrowful tear.

Your watch will never end.

Thank you for choosing to serve and protect, and for putting your life on the line for the safety of others. Thank you to your extended police brothers and sisters whom continue to serve and protect.
Thank you for your service !!!
May you rest in Peace.

I will never forget that horrifying moment in my entire life while listening to the radio in the communications room. The worst words to hear from a dispatcher over the air. It felt as if it had ripped my entire heart out and forced to witness the next remaining hour listening to the radio. At times the radio was silent, as I had waited anctiously to hear the condition of our brother! I wished that I could have raced down there to his aid.

My brother, you were not alone on the fateful morning. We were all there. We felt the pain and sorrow. We will never forget where we were and what we were doing that morning.

My prayers and thoughts go out to the family. May you rest in peace our brother. You are with GOD now.

The Final Inspection

The Policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass,
he hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as bright as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman"
"How shall i deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders
and said, "No Lord, I guess I ain't
because those who carry badges,
Can't always be a saint.
"I’ve had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough
and sometimes I've been violent
because the streets are awfully tough."
And i never passed a cry for help
Though at times i shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I wept many tears.
"I know I don’t deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fear."
"If you've a place for me, Lord
It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But, if you don't I'll understand."
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where saints had often trod,
As the policeman waited quietly,
for his judgment of his God,
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on heavens streets,
You've done your time in hell.

POPS U WAS A GREAT SUPERVISOR AND FRIEND I WILL MISS YOU WITH ALL MY HEART A PART OF MY LIFE IS GONE WITH YOU RIGHT NOW, WE HAD GREAT TIME WORKING TOGETHER, TOO THE FAMILY MY HEART GOES TO YOU, R.I.P. POPS I WILL MISS YOU

There are no words that will ever ease the pain of the Popolizio family. I just hope that you know that there are people out here that are thankful for Tommaso's years of service, we know that he was out there for our families. Be Proud of him, for he is a true HERO!
Sergeant, look down on your family and wrap your wings of "Blue" around them and help them through this terrible and dark time. We will ask God to hold you and your family dear to his heart.
I did not know him in life, but I call him Brother- for he was my Brother in "Blue".

+ Rest Now Brother, For Your Watch Has Ended +

I never dreamed it would be me
My name for all eternity
Recorded here at this hallowed place
Alas, my name, no more my face

"In the line of duty" I hear them say
My family now the price will pay
My folded flag stained with their tears
We only had those few short years

The badge no longer on my chest
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind
And pray they keep this thought in mind

I never dreamed it would be me
And with heavy heart and bended knee
I ask for all here from the past
Dear God, let my name be the last
(Author unknown)

+God bless all the men and women in blue.+
