Hey Pop, I know I only knew you for like 6 months but in those 6 months I learned alot from you. Mia and I always looked foward to those last two days of our tour. You always had the answers we needed and treated us like we've been on the force for like 20yrs and not like we were rookies. I know I speak for all the rest of our brothers and sisters when i say you'll always have a piece of our heart.
REST IN PEACE MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY,

I remember Tommaso well. He was a patrolman and appeared so often in Part Three (aka Hell Court) which was my second home in the Newark Municipal Court system. Although I have been gone from my prosecutor's job since late 2002, I still remember, and am in contact with, many of the officers who I will always consider to be family. I recognized all too clearly the danger into which these men and women placed themselves each day just to make sure citizens had some sense of protection from an ever-expanding criminal element. And the absolute worse part of my job was also realizing that one day, an officer might not sign in for court precisely because some twist of fate made an arrest or pursuit go terribly awry. I would rather be hearing how Tommaso is doing from one of my friends in the Department than entering anything on these pages. It may have been years, but I remember each and every one of you with whom I worked - your faces, your names, and your dedication to doing a job few people have the fortitude or bravery to undertake, especially in Newark. My condolences to the family and friends of this dear man I remember so well. My heart goes out to you.

Tommaso,
You will always be my little brother. It is so difficult to gather my thoughts right now. I love you brother.
People are what make a city, not buildings, roads, bridges, stadiums, etc. You , Nicola, and Pasquale made the city a better place. Tommaso, where most people take, you gave and you kept on giving. Tommaso, my brother, I'm so proud of you. You are the best of Newark.

After reading some of the reflections left by Tommaso's men and women, I can only hope to earn the respect and admiration from my men and women that he earned from his. As sergeants, we strive every shift to ensure that our men and women are safely dismissed to their families, to those who eagerly wait for them at home. It is evident that Sgt. Popolizio embraced this very mentality and ideal.
In these reflections I have seen such descriptive attributes as "brave, loyal and fair." It is obvious that Tommaso was loved and respected by his peers and family. He is an inspiration to all who don a badge and dedicate their lives to those we serve.
Rest in peace brother. Your legacy and devotion to this "thing of ours" will live on and grow ever stronger. Your family, friends and co-workers are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless.

Pop, it was truly a pleasure to know you, both as a supervisor and as a good friend. In addition to always being there when we needed you most on our assignments, you always had time to discuss our families and their well being in between your duties, further showing how much a proud family man you were.
As officers, we will continue your legacy by emulating the very type of officer you were: fearless, dedicated, and dependable.
Our deepest sympathies, condolences, and prayers go out to the Popolizio family. We know both you Pop, and Nicky will be guarding from above. You will always be remembered in our thoughts and in our hearts. Rest in peace Pop.
