Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Kevin Carper
We just experienced the loss of a officer in our city last week, he was buried on Monday.
I feel for the wife and children of this fallen officer as well as the law enforcement family and communtiy which he swore to protect and serve. Nothing has had more of an impact on my life then me holding the widow of our fallen officer and exchanging tears. I didn't know her or her husband but I felt her pain just the same.
Hold onto the strength wives behind the badge gain during our marriage to our heros. Rely on the help and strength of the community and the department.
My thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this very difficult time.

I am deeply troubled that yet another Officer has been added to this list. I wish with all my might that you will be the last DS Carper, but a perfect world this is not. Having lost a HERO, I share your loved ones' grief. You did not go alone Kevin, for a part of everyone you know and love went with you. You will live on forever in their hearts. Thank you for choosing to serve and protect.

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Deputy Carper, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.
Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow
Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow
When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest
