Reflections for Sergeant Howard J. Plouff
Your heroism and service is honored today, the 2nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state and the birthplace of my son. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Rest In Peace.

Fist and Formost I want to say How very Sorry I am for your loss my thought and prayers are with the Plouff Family
Do not stand at his Grave and forever weep.
He is not there; He does not sleep.
He is a thousand winds that blow.
He is the diamond glints on snow.
He is the sunlight on ripened grain.
He is the gentle autumn's rain.
(To Officer Plouff Wife, Daughters, mom,dad sister & brother)
When you awaken in the morning's hush
He will be that swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
He is the soft stars that shine at night.
So I tell you Plouff Family,
Do not stand at his Grave and forever cry.
He is not there he did not DIE.
God Said," My precious Child I love you and would never leave you. In your time of pain, hurt, and sorrow when you felt you could not carry on. It was then I carried you..

Through out the past year, many kind and thoughtful words have been spoken with regards to Howie.Knowing Howie for the time I was able to spend with him in Bohemia N.Y. was truly a treasure. This great man and his family deserved to grow, learn, and live together for a much longer period than was provided. I dont believe that I can add anything new that hasnt been said about this outstanding man. Howie's spirit continues to provide strength to all who miss him;myself included. I know I wasnt close with Howard and Joyce while they lived in North Carolina but they have always been in my thoughts and prayers.I work in law enforcement on Long Island N.Y. and i could only imagine how much fun it must have been for Howie and his partners over the years. Everytime something goofy happens at work I think about the laugh I would have had had Howard been there. What a time you people must have had together. Also, When something more serious would occur I can only imagine How much information on procedure from the patrol guide was logged within Howie's mind.I'm certain he understood what to do from A-Z.Howard, I've always had great respect for yopu and your professional ways. If only one tenth of your ways have rubbed off on me,well, then that would make me a great husband, father, friend, police officer.I miss you buddy, keep watching over us all. sincerely,Bill Borchers

A year already. We had a snowfall up here in NY to match the rain on the first day of your passing. I think of you when I look up into the sky and see one of those great big hawks circling above. I feel your spirit in those magnificent birds...flying free and watching over me.
Chris, Jax and I got together to mark this day...we miss you, little brother, but we're so proud of you too. xoxo

Not a day goes by that you are not thought of. I think we can all still feel your presence each day especially as we come in to work and walk past your picture. We miss you and you will never be forgotten.
They say your life is a success if you leave this world better than how you found it. This world is definitley a better place having had you in it.

I was working that night. I think every 10-8 unit in the county and a lot that weren't went to your aid. Every one of us in Forsyth County felt your loss. You are a true hero, and will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, brother.

You were hilighted on the website tonite. I remember
when you were added to these pages. Thank you for
having the courage to wear that uniform and willingly
performing your duties with class and integrity. My
heart goes out to your family with Christmas fast
approaching and knowing you won't be there to share
in their activities. But it sounds like you are in a better
place with the Savior, celebrating His birth, His salvation and His resurrection. Merry Christmas!
