Reflections for Detective Keith Dressel

I JUST WANT TO SAY WHAT A GOOD FRIEND KEITH WAS TO ME AND MY SONS NICK AND NATHAN. WHENEVER MY SON NICK WAS COMING HOME FROM SCHOOL AND HE WANTED TO DO A RIDE ALONG I WOULD ASK KEITH IF HE COULD PUSH UP A SEARCH WARRANT TO ACCOMIDATE MY SON'S VISIT. KEITH NEVER LET ME DOWN HE ALWAYS CAME THROUGH. I WISH I WOULD HAVE TAKEN HIM UP ON HIS CAMPING INVITATIONS. KEITH TOLD ME HE COULD HELP ME PUT A NEW FLOOR IN MY KITCHEN. HE SAID THAT IT WOULD BE EASY AND WOULDN'T TAKE LONG. WELL NEEDLESS TO SAY IT WASN'T EASY AND IT SEEMED LIKE IT TOOK FOREVER. JUST A FEW THINGS AMONG OTHERS THAT I'LL REMEMBER ABOUT MY FRIEND. I'LL MISS YOU DEEPLY AND I'LL NEVER EVER FORGET YOU. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

The thin blue line has lost another brother. To your co-workers:talk and share with each other, it helps. To your wife:My prayers are with you during this journey, you have ones close by to help you along. To your children:your father will always be with you...he is now your guardian angel. To the rest of the family and friends...comfort each other, share the good times and the laughs you shared with your departed hero.

I learned about your departure from that morning's news. I gently woke my husband to ask if he'd known about the officer who was killed. I can't explain the look he gave when I told him it was one of their own. We both sat their in shock, and watched in horror as the news unfolded. I can't begin to explain how the next week carried out, as we too are a police officer family. My heart goes out to Danielle and the Dressel family, as I can only imagine what it would be like if this were my husband. God Bless You. You are in ours prayers daily.

It is at these moments that most must drop to one knee or run in another direction, however for some it sparks a raging fire within. It is what keeps them alert and out of their comfort zones. It is an Officer's fuel to stay on both feet walking, one before the other, for you and you're family. Crushed and torn inside, we'll take more beatings, as I know more Offcier's will go on to pass their flame. As each may fall, more will stand but they'll never be forgotten, as their flame will find a home amongst a brother or sister walking along the Thin Blue Line.

We’ll miss you,
We’ll miss you're smile,
And we’ll still shed a tear
Every once in a while

And even though we're different now,
You're still here somehow,
Our hearts won't let you go,
And we need you to know,

We'll miss you.

To all Toldeo PD officers. My deepest and heartfelt condolences on the loss of your brother officer Det. Dressel. I, unfortunately went through the very same thing
in Aug 1966 when a friend and former partner was killed in the line of duty. It is something that will always be with you. You did an awesome job in paying your repects for him. Take care and be safe my brothers.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Det. Dressel's family and co workers of TPD. Being a Vice officer myslef we are sometimes but in the toughest and most dangerous situations. Thank you for your courage sir.
Hopefully your state won't treat the Juvy who did this to you with just a slap to the wrist like most jurisdictions do
and your family will have justice served. Juvenile or not,the criminal justice system and police officers around the country are determined to show that cop killers will not be tolerated and will pay for the rest of thier lives if they dont fry first. God bless you and all officers killed in the line of duty.

A Fallen Hero

A fallen hero, one so great..
A fallen hero, never to lose his way.
A fallen hero, gave his life to keep you safe.

A fallen hero, one so true...
A fallen hero, never to feel sad and blue.
A fallen hero, gave his life to make it through.

A fallen hero, one so proud...
A fallen hero, never to live in doubt.
A fallen hero, gave his life to you.

This fallen hero, loved by all...
This fallen hero, missed by all.
This fallen hero, still in our hearts.
This fallen hero, lived, loved in awe.

Our hero, fallen, but never forgotten.
Our hero, golden, and forever true.
Our hero, always to be...
One to be remembered by you and me.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Detective Dressel and to the entire Toledo Police Department at the loss of one of their own. As the morning news director at NBC 24, I have been part of the broadcasts from the awful announcement that fateful morning to the airing of the funeral today. Though none of us knew Detective Dressel, please know that we were grieving with you today. I assure you there was not a dry eye in the control room or on the set as we attempted to do our jobs today so the community could say farewell to a hero.

A POLICE OFFICER'S PRAYER

Lord I ask for courage

Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears...

Courage to take me
Where others will not go...

I ask for strength

Strength of body to protect others
And strength of spirit to lead others...

I ask for dedication

Dedication to my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
To keep it safe...

Give me Lord, concern
For others who trust me
And compassion for those who need me...

And please Lord

Through it all
Be at my side...
