"My Brother"
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what they represent.
He felt privileged to be of service to his department, his community and to his country.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong and became
frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he
never wavered.
He stood by and for his fellow officers.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely
weekends, holidays and midnights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling
and prayed they would understand.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated to the profession and cared about the
people he served.
He wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to
be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.
He was a cop.
Yes, I did know him.
He was a cop, he was my Brother.

As I followed the news on TV yesterday, my heart was breaking for this fine young man's senseless death. As a former 20 yr. resident of that neighborhood, the loss of a Glendale officer seemed a bit closer. All of you who worked with, who loved, who knew Officer Holly on the street, my heart goes out for the great loss to each of you.
I am deeply sorry.

It is very sad to hear of such a good and bright young life cut short so needlessly and always by such horrible perpretrators. I salute Officer Holly's service to his community and to his profession. The bravery, dedication and sacrifice of this protector of the weak and oppressed will not be forgotten.
I offer my deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of this young gentleman. Please take heart in knowing that as we mourn the loss, we can also find joy in celebrating the life.
Officer Holly now patrols the streets of Heaven in St. Michael's platoon, as his tour in this life is finished with his final roll call. This tragedy hurts us all, because we are all family of the badge, regardless of our race, age, gender, religion or agency.
Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13). Rest easy brother, we have the watch from here. Be safe out there brothers and sisters.

I felt very sad when I had read what had happened to you. But your bravery in the face of combat and the sacrafice you've made shows what you, and your department are made of. I'm proud to know that our brotherhood has men like yourself. Our family has lost a good one. God bless.

Oh, God, another one leaves us! Be with this family as they somehow trudge through this.
My father was an Ohio State Trooper, my husband now is a Deputy Sheriff. I have many friends now that are officers for one agency or another and I cannot begin to comprehend what these people think is SO pressing that they take the life of another human being, let alone an officer. Living on the fringes of losing Kevin Kight and now even closer, a co-worker of my husband and the sheriff's wife, the losses are unspeakable and difficult to comprehend. I can only ask God to comfort you all, and hope that somehow He will soften the blow in your heart over time, but these deaths are some of the ugliest kind and I am so sorry. Know that I will be praying for you all.
Officer Holly, your sacrifice is beyond words. My brother lives in Phoenix and used to live in Glendale. I recently visited and it saddens my heart tremendously that they have lost one of their officers. We are still trying to make sense out of recent losses in Jackson County, FL and the sense will never come. However, you are a martyr for what is right, and if you are like any of the other officers I know, you died doing what you dreamed of doing and loved doing it even knowing the dangers. What greater hero is there? God rest your soul. Help Mike patrol Heaven. I understand he is quite the comic, so I think you will enjoy him.
My deepest sympathy reaches out to you all.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family, friends and fellow officers. I know how they feel. 2 years ago I was with a police officer who was shot and killed. The saying that "time heals all wounds" doesn't always apply. When you are feeling sad, just remember that he is in a better place. Thank you for your service Officer Holly. Your actions will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.

Rest In Peace , My Thoughts and Prayers go out to you and your family.
Police Officer's Prayer
"God bless my family when I am away,
Leave the lights on I'll return from harms way,
Grant me courage and strength to protect others each day,
So they live in peace without worry, fear or dismay,
Bless those who have fallen given their life for another
May their spirit live on from then and forever,
Return me home to my family at the end of each night,
May I pass through the door before the morning's first light,
Shall I give my life for another before the dawn breaks today,
God bless my family when I am away.

A POLICEMAN'S PRAYER
BROTHER WHEN YOU WEEP FOR ME REMEMBER THAT IT WAS MEANT TO BE.
LAY ME DOWN AND WHEN YOU LEAVE REMEMBER I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE...IN EVERY DARK AND DREARY ALLEY I'LL BE THERE AS YOU SLOWLY TREAD, ON EVERY STREET CORNER IN THE DRIVING SNOW I'LL HOLD YOUR COAT AND YOU WILL KNOW.
IN PLACES WHERE THE DEVIL IS AFRAID TO WALK...
AT DOORS WHERE YOU MEET RESISTANCE...
IN HOUSES WHERE CHILDREN HIDE...
YOU KNOW I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE.
THE PLACE FROM WHICH I NOW RESPOND IS OVERSTAFFED WITH HEROES GONE...MEN WHO ANSWERED ONE LAST JOB AND DID IT WELL.
AS POLICEMEN WE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A CARD DEALT IN OUR HAND...A CARD WE HOPE WE NEVER PLAY BUT WE HOLD IT THERE ANYWAY.
THE CARD IS SOMETHING WE IGNORE AS WE STAND ON THAT THIN BLUE LINE EVERY TOUR...FOR WE KNOW THAT WE ARE THE ONLY PRAYER FOR MANY OUT THERE.
SO REMEMBER, AS YOU WIPE YOUR TEARS, THE JOY I HAVE KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE YEARS...AS THE JOB I LOVED TO DO I PRAY THAT THIS THOUGHT WILL SEE YOU THROUGH.
