Reflections for Patrolman Burtis Birkhoff
Rest in peace Patrolman Birkhoff.

I have heard the story from my daddy about my great great uncle Burtis and have found his grandchildren. I am honored to be part of this family, especially knowing we had someone as devoted to law and order to give his life. Thank you, to EVERYONE, that has continued to honor him. His son, Burtis, is now with him in Heaven.

My late father often talked of the day his uncle Burt died. Although he was only 14 at the time he remembered the family coming to my Grandparents house (Henry V. and Nellie Birkhoff) and sitting in the parlor and all wept for him.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 77th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
Rest In Peace.

You were my grandfather's brother and I knew that you had been killed in the line of duty. I had followed in your and grandfather's footsteps and served on the U.S. Capital Police for a while before returning home to care for my parents. I had been hoping for quite a while to go to the wall and find your name and this past weekend with your great niece, Jennifer, we found it. Debbie
