Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Daniel Browne-Sanchez

Deputy Daniel Brown-Sanchez!

I remember meeting you the first time just about five years ago in the academy! I remember looking across the room at you thinking "Damn, that guy does not even look 21 years old!" I watched as you constantly fought hard to stay awake in class and sneak a few pages from those adventure fictional novels you love so much, however, you continued to amaze me on how easily you passed every academic test with flying colors! I remember our first week doing physical training! You complained that your feet were sore and could not keep up with the pack because of the pain! We remember looking down at your feet and realized that, dude, you can't run with skater shoes! The minute you strapped on running shoes you flew like the wind! We graduated 21 from 30 in the class! We were the first class that was weeded out from about 2000 that applied! Brother, Dan, we stood against all the trials and errors of becoming a Deputy! We tested, fought, bled, cried, and suffered together as brothers in arms and for all we have been through together, will make us BROTHERS FOREVER!

You were the youngest man amongst men who decided to take the role and challenge of a "sheepdog!" Being a sheepdog is pretty much a thankless career! The sheep only appreciate us when they need us but despise our presence when they don't! The sheep knows that we protect them from the wolves that have sharp teeth, but despise the fact that the sheepdogs also have sharp teeth! Well, I think you more than demonstrated that sheepdogs use their teeth so that others may live!

Dan, you not only exhibited integrity and service before self on the job! The most unique thing about you is that you exhibited those special qualities of unselfishness in all aspects of your life! Everyone who knew you knew that you would have done the same thing over and over! That's just the kind of person you were! Always putting yourself before others!

At the hospital it was quite evident that you had touched many peoples lives! They had to turn people away because there were just too many people wanting to show you support and love! However, the most important person in your life was there feeling all your pain, your mother! I want you to know that we are taking very good care of her! The brothers have all offered and will continue to offer love and support to your Dear Mom! You should rest assured that though you may not be here physically for your mother, WE WILL!!

Dan, you most definitely will be missed by the State Sheriffs Department and by all those lives and people that you have touched! We shall all meet up again in the afterlife!

R.I.P Deputy/Friend Daniel Brown-Sanchez!

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Deputy Browne-Sanchez, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest

A hero is defined as an ordinary man acting in an extraordinary way, under extraordinary circumstances. You are a HERO. It is our choices, more than our abilities, that truly define who we are. The law enforcement community has suffered a great loss. I'm proud of the choice Dan made to take action, But more, I'm proud to have served with Dan and call him my friend.
