Sean, you are terribly missed. All day today I expected you to walk into the office with that big smile and crack a joke. I can't believe you are gone. I am so thankful that I took the time to sit with you Friday and talk about "the old times". We talked about all the guns you took off the street when you worked the Block, the shootings you weren't a part of due to transfers, the chases and the fights. You told me how you felt it all came down to luck. I wish I could go back in time to that conversation and warn you about what was to happen. I look back on the days before the accident and all I can remember is you talking about how the trip was going to take you away from your family and how you were going to miss your anniversary, valentines day and other activities. You spoke of your family often and it was obvious how important they were to you. You were an outstanding officer, a great co-worker and an incredible friend. Rest easy brother.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Wissink and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Officer Wissink has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends of Officer Wissink, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Wissink is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I've found that peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembering joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah, yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with time of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I've savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me now; He set me free.

Sean---

It was my honor to know you.

When it all boils down, you were a good man and a good cop.

I enjoyed working with you in Patrol, Narcotics and the WMD Team. Lots of memories... However, my favorite thoughts are of you in the field, pheasant hunting. You will be missed.

God speed
