Francis DeLong was my 2nd great grand uncle. He lived a very industrious life, but unfortunately it ended tragically and all too soon. Before joining the Joliet Police Force, he also served three years as a Union Soldier in the Civil War for the Illinois Volunteers. His family is and was very proud of him. May he rest in peace. Thank you for remembering him.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 122nd anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
