My heart goes out to the friends, family and co-workers of Deputy Altman, and Sheriff John McDaniel.

Words are simply insufficient to describe the anger and disgust I feel toward the attackers, and the undying respect and admiration I have for Deputy Altman and Sheriff McDaniels.

Even in the face of such a senseless and horrific act, these two men continued foreward, into the path of danger, to bring an end to these violent criminals.

The men and women of your community owe you a debt of gratitude for your selfless acts, that can never be repaid

May the good lord give bring peace, blessings and solace to your families at this dark hour.

Aloha Deputy Sheriff Harold Michael Altman,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge,(after one of Hawaii's own Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life last year in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum; a keeper of the ODMP light. That light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here.

This "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who cares to share a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is a hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. May we find solace as we give solace to the families who have lost a loved one.

As we say in Hawaii, “You are`Ohana.” “You are family.” God Bless this fallen hero. You are embraced as our own family member. No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one, not in this lifetime. May God allow you to rest in peace. My heart is hurting so much for all of you today. As I heard this story unfold on CNN today,I sat here and thought how could something so terrible happen to these families,this entire town. Words cannot express my sympathy to all of you. Thank you Officer Altman. We salute you Sir, for your bravery and your ultimate sacrifice. Your "Blue Line" family will forever keep your memory alive in our hearts. Sheriff McDaniel, your lovely wife was escorted into Heaven on the arm of a Hero and Deputy Altman was to.
