Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Harold Michael Altman
Son, we miss you so much. I am so sorry you had to go through this. It is so hard to believe you are really gone. Seems like you should walk through that door any time. You are now with your grandpa you loved so much.

On Jan. 30, 2014 marked another year since your E.O.W. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of you in some way. You were a good man Mike, and you are missed by so many. I still chuckle at the fun times we had on our meal break together just a few days prior. Watch over us from above till we are reunited again. We have the watch down here.

It seems like only yesterday my phone rang with the frantic voice on the other end. I was told what happened and told to come in to work. Mike you are missed and will never be forgotten. My wife has family buried in the cemetery you were buried in. Not too long ago, we were there visiting, and I stopped by your grave. Thank you for your sacrifice.

Another year has passed since your E.O.W. I still wear my O.D.M.P. bracelet on my wrist every day. It is a constant reminder of your ultimate sacrifice on Jan. 30 2007. I'm often asked by citizens about the bracelet. I'm proud to share the meaning behind why I wear it and the hero it represents. God speed Mike until be are reunited again.

Mike its been awhile now since that day in 2007. So much has changed since you left us. I remember that day like yesterday, I remeber the call being dispatched. I ran code and hard as I could to get to you and I was too late. You are missed, those tragic events that day will never be forgotten and you live in each of us today. May god rest your sole Mike and may they bless your family.

3 February 2007, Marianna; Jackson County; Florida & the Nation, paused to Honor a Hero, Deputy Mike Altman.
Heroes do live forever!!
Your actions exemplified the qualities of Pride, Integrity & Guts.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13), and Mike, paid the ultimate price.
The pain in the hearts of your Family and your Law Enforcement Family is as strong today as it was on this horrible day, in January 2007, may God be with them and continue to guide them.
No one is ever gone until they are forgotten. We will never forget.
God Bless Deputy Altman; Deputy Altman's Family; and the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.

Jan. 30, 2012 was the five year anniversary of your death. Seems like just yesterday you and I were having a meal break during our shift. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about hearing the radio traffic while on shift heading from miles away to respond. I wear your O.D.M.P. bracelet every work day as a reminder of your sacrifice. I know your looking down from above watching over us everyday. God speed Mike until we are reunited again.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the fifth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
I pray for the solace of all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. I hold your family in my heart's embrace today.
Rest In Peace.

Mike,
It's been many days since i heard the tragic news of us losing you. I remember squealing my car into park on the side of 73 north, and remember Ssgt Mears telling me that we lost you, and how my heart ached like it never had before.
I remember you telling me about flying, and I have taken some lessons myself since then.
Eventhough you left us so quickly so many days ago, there isnt a time when I'm back in florida that driving by there it doesn't give me chills, and remind me of that day.
...but i smile...because you wouldn't want me to do anything any different...you are gone and not forgotten...
we miss you bud....much love from the West Coast...

Seems like yesterday we got the call
you lost your life without warning at all
...Although you’re gone, and now walk above
Your time came too soon but we remember your love.
Your life was over in a flash our life was shattered
Nothing in life anymore seem to matter
I now know that you're happy where you are.
Safe in the arms of Jesus, without any cares.
We mis you and love you, Mom & Dad
